Heh... So if I understood it right, our Lady Baby grew up to be a colonizer who's going to the periphery to learn and appropriate their culture, to eventually spread it on the noble society?... I don't like that at all.
This is going miles away from where I thought it was going to go when I started reading it, and I'm uncomfortable.
And sad. Cause I started the new chapters super happy about her teaching that dumb noble girl her place, and now I'm even questioning if I should start ch109, cause I don't wanna se Calliope appropriating other people's culture
(︶︿︶)=凸
This cannot be colonization because colonizing means invading a culture and imposing your own. They're part of the same society but it just does not belong to the same class. You can speak of borrowing code because at first glance this is what she seeks to make the popular culture value among the aristocracy so that this class could resists the authoritarian and liberticidal excesses of the temple. She does not appropriate their culture since they are part of the same society. She want just to borrow the communer class codes ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I said colonizer cause it felt wrong to just say white people, and I don't know if there is a term for what she's doing. I understand your point about it not being colonization, cause yes, there is no colonization is this story.
I can't, however, agree with you about appropriation. White North Americans, for example, appropriated Jazz and Hip Hop from the Black Community and they are still in the "same society".
Even this "same society" can be argued. Lippe grew up in high society, she has completely different life experiences and culture (she herself used this word) from the community she's seeking to appropriate, so how can we say they are equal and are part of a single unity?
The fact is, she's gonna steal their culture and spread it in high society. High society is gonna absorb, develop and claim it as theirs. If she succeds she's gonna be remembered as a pioneer, while the community she stole from is gonna be undervalued (if not completely ignored) by the mainstream.
Also, I'm sorry, I didn't really understand what you said about code, cause code for me would mean language, that's why I'm not commenting about.
Don't worry, I know what you mean. I am black so issues related to cultural appropriation etc. I know. What I mean is that it is a uniformly white society so it does what is called "a cultural code loan", basically rich people do it regularly. They are able to go to the opera then go to a rap concert in the working-class neighborhoods. Yes, I don't condone the practice, but I just wanted to use the right words. After I hope that the author will not let this story go in this direction, but on the face of the situation, only the aristocracy can prevent the gain of power of the temple.
Oh, I understand what you mean better now, thank you for explaining it!
About the shift in the story, yeah, I agree with you. But at the same time, it feels like she chose to fight swords with a napkin. Wasn't the church supposed to start moving soon? Will she even have enough time (and influence) to normalize folk songs in high society before the church starts "devouring" everything?
Is he Theo's reincarnation for real? Is that why he felt bad seeing her draw her sword? Is he close to remembering? I don't know how to feel about that, cause Theo caused her so much suffering, I want this to be about her finding a new love (even if he is Theo's reincarnation, if he doesn't actually remember, it's gonna feel like a new beginning) after such a turbulent first life, and with the duke having Theo's memories, I feel this is gonna turn more about him

Hmm... Yeah ok, the girl just lost her parents and her closest friends instead of comforting her prefer to go "catch the perpetrator"... Mr. fiance wasnt even intending to go close to her, while the friend came making a ruckuss, blonde boy was the only who at least gave her comfort and respected her time and silence... The blonde girlfriend instead of comforting is being comforted by the one grieving, and the other 2 girl friends are just there...
Honestly, when I saw the raw I thought they were sent away by the crown and because of that couldn't accompany her, but now that I know what's happened I wanna kick their chin. Thank god she's strong is gonna resolve all the problems by herself, cause if she actually needed these men, jesus...
I'm sorry, who the fucks eat food from dogs/cats cheeks? Even more so because it's a street dog who looks dirty/sick.
I love my cats but I wouldn't give them food from my face/mouth, nor would I eat food taken from them... And what the fuck goes through her brain to give cake to a dog??? If it was a real one, would she take care of them after they start feeling bad??
This whole chapter is so ridiculous and nonsensical I can't even fathom.
I feel ya hsfgfdgeegrsgergregregwrgrw tho I'm also the type that read a genre until I can't stand it anymore, and then jump to another genre, and a few months later I comeback and see if I found something new. Right now, for example, I'm the middle of my isekai crisis, cause I feel i already read all the decent isekai on this site ╥﹏╥
Oh, I get it! But I'm like: If the story is really good and I'm hooked, I will probably bingeread it and then cry myself to oblivion because of the void
But if I, like, pause the reading for a day or two right before reading the end? I take ages to finish it! Specially if the story is reeeeeeaaaaaaaally good.
The worst part is mf rationalizing it as necessary and telling Shulli (in his thoughts) that he's gonna meet her in the afterlife...
I believe Shuli is a victim of her appearance, except for the kids not acceptance of her, everything else that happened to her, happened because she looks like the late empress.
About the crazy asshole, in his fanatic mind he probably thinks that he's helping her and saving her of this vile world. I don't think It's farfetched to say that he idolized her, but her political actions, that go against his belief of what is a "woman's place", trigger his murderous "act of salvation". (This last part is a supposition based on a conversation of his with some other church guy where they were discussing about Shulli after one of the House of Lord's meetings)
By the way, these are ALL purely my expeculations, from everything I read until now. To know better we would need someone who actually read the novel to drop some spoilers.
Why do I feel like Gaspar had a crush on Claude ever since they were kids, but Clauses indifference and coldnessn towards himself transformed that in hate? I think that's why he talks about him so much even tho he hates him to death.
Also, I wonder if Claude is possessed by that's tower (? Column?) thing or if he just gained a power he can't control. And how/why does it affect his compatibily with the holy sword?.
Oh, and politics, I wonder how that's gonna affect politics between his Dukedom, the Kingdom and the Church. Cause it already seems that the Church doesn't have the best of relations with the Kingdom, and I think him being unable to use (or they may think he's refusing) to use holy sword is gonna cause strife.
Oh!!! I thought those were the effects of him surpassing that magic column thingy in the ruins! Thank you clarifying!
About Gaspar, he thinks and has too many flashbacks about him for it to be just that. He seemed so afronted when he realised that Claude came after him not because of the crime, but because he offended his wife. He couldn't accept that truth, so that's why I think there's a broken heart here somewhere.
Hm... How can you be a noble and not know what the Emperor looks like or at least generally know his unique features (like having silver hair and blue eyes)???? And why would an emperor resort to sexually assaulting* someone so backhandedly when he could simply summon her to the palace?
* Yes, if you take someone passed out drunk and have sex with them it is sexual assault, even if he just took her clothes off and slept on the same bed I would consider it harassment. In her place I would've honestly woken up terrified.
Mistake? I don't see how can someone possibly mistake uncounciousness as consent. Besides, the girl didn't even knew who he was even tho he was the emperor, if he ever thought she was interested in him, it is pure arrogance on his part. Also, his conversation with that duke makes me think that he knew who she was and was interested in her before he took advantage of her vulnerability.
So to me, one way or another the narrative is forced.
But the thing is, it doesn't really matter what the emperor thought.
It matters that he found her in a vulnerable state and instead of send her to her family or to find a separate room for her to sleep it of, he chose to take advantage of him. That shows a lot about the type of person he is.
And again, the Duke knew about her before even knowing the emperor slept with her, which means the emperor was already interested in her before that particular encounter, which could also mean it was premeditated, could even mean he spiked her drink (extremely improbable, since the author is pushing for romance, but do you understand that that could be a possibility?)
Look... I like the story and the MC, and find her funny most of the time. But how the fuck can she be such and air head? Does she not understand that even if SHE know everything is gonna be okay, EVERYBODY ELSE DON'T? She keeps being confused about their reactions when a drop of empathy could answer all her questions... It's baffling...
Same with the king. Yes he was and is a shitty father, but he did regret a bit when he realise that the child he abandoned would die and didn't want nothing to do with him even in death. So isn't is feasible that he, regretting as he is, could try to mend their relationship? So why is she surprised and shocked?
Even tho this story is quite funny, it feels like the MC is living enclosed in a wall that she herself built, and is incapable of putter herself in other people's shoes because of it. It'sfrustrates me sometimes.
I think her reaction is a result of her being stuck in the idea of the original story (like a lot of reincarnated MCs in this genre tbh).
All these people were supposed to hate her (as in her unni and the body) because of how she acted and they never really knew about her sickness. And i'm pretty sure she still thinks they are merely tolerating her (or she's distracted by their beauty and isn't really thinking about how her relationship with them changed).
So even though it's obvious that they no longer hate her (and in most cases actually love her) she is still going with the expectation that they will be happy when she is gone and they she is merely enjoying seeing them while they're tolerating her until her "death"
I agree with you, but the point is, she enclosed herself in that belief that unnie was poor, hated soul and is equating herself with the original owner, when she is not, and exactly because she is not, she's not acting the same way, which will not cause the same reactions and feelings in others, and she doesn't seem to understand that, which annoys me.
And yes, it is a really common thing in transmigration/rebirth novel, but it's still so annoying every f time, I can't.
Ps.: Also, yes, Unnie was a poor, hated soul, and she started to hate and oppress because she was hated and oppressed, but I'm not gonna enter in this, because my focus was the MC
Yes, I know, what I'm saying is that she would understand it if she stopped enclosing herself in her beliefs* and start looking around, and trying to put herself in her loved ones' shoes.
* more than belief, is more like she takes for granted that Unnie's future in the original story is gonna befall her, when everything is clearly pointing that no, it's not going to happen.
I need more (/TДT)/
