It's like his hard works will never pay off as long as there is Haruka... He sacrificed a lot for baseball even when he's not a competitive person to start with, he even felt guilt for his opponents, all those physical & mental toll, but always comes as 2nd because someone with inborn affinity to baseball like Haruka will surely surpass him. This happens a lot in real life no matter what hobby or passion you have. BUT, Kaname failed to notice one thing. Even though Haruka might outshine him, he's got amazing skills himself through his lifetime's worth of painful dedication. At least that pain will pay off!
