Artist is also a job. Everyone who spent their 6+ hours daily wants fair money for it. Baker, doctor, teacher, shop cashier. AND ARTIST TOO. Why all the professions have to be paid and no one questions that but artists are supposed to suffer and do charity

I didn’t read the thread but I can’t blame authors for not caring about popularity/exposure in other countries. From a reader's point of view it doesn’t harm the author at all because korean audiences still buy it BUT the problem is that most artists barely earn enough money to live by literally working 24/7 and ruining their health. Now you might be saying, what’s there to ruin? A lot. A few examples: spraining/breaking your wrist or elbow, psychological disorders, sleep troubles, exhaustion, decrease in bodily functions,...
Now the thing is that readers from overseas won’t buy you food or care for your health AND if the manhwa is officially translated at a later date, people will not buy it anymore because they already read it for free.

So why not hire one of these translator groups? Well I guess the creators are bound to some kind of publishing company by a contract and can’t do what they want.

Honestly that thread was a hot mess lmaooo Of course artists/authors like exposure, but not like this??? It’s one thing to make a tweet praising a work, write fanfic, make fanarts of, or create short edits, but it’s another thing to take the whole work that someone spent the time and energy to create with the intention of gaining a source of income from, and posting it for free. Cause let’s be real- it’s most likely that people are going to flock to a free illegal site and stick to it moreso than finding the legal site where you have to pay money to read every chapter. You can criticize how YD behaved regarding the translator, but you can’t exactly blame them for getting upset in the first place. They clearly planned on this manhwa being a main source of income, and illegal translators and sites don’t exactly help. Also, a lot of artists that have very very popular works ie the author of Tower of God, are in a position where their work gained enough revenue that they don’t exactly have to worry about illegal sites. YD probably doesn’t have this luxury.

Also Tower of God is free because it's SFW. I wish "genius" who made that thread would tell us how to make nsfw content free. I can pull out a chair and wait. Because webtoon artists get paid by ad revenue and currently no serious ad sense works with nsfw content. Is there's porny BL on Webtoon? Sex scenes? Detailed murder scenes, corpses? No because they can't be "free" and paid by ads

I mean it happened before. I do not agree with how the author's is dealing with this(the fury and anger she has, understandable but some of it was a bit too far)....but I have seen quite a few people taunt me and others when we encourage then to read the authors work for free but legally. They make all sorts of excuse and do not even feel guilty they are reading illegally. And some on here try as much as they can to read it legally.

I cant afford this but if I have some spare cash, I do try to buy some chapters I read already.

Well, because you can't use exposure/popularity to put food on the table & pay for your bills, similar to all artists/authors. Especially if that exposure comes from an illegal website where readers like us can't even afford to buy their work.

Honey, you're misunderstanding something, YD is the writer not the artist, the one who spends hours creating this beautiful visual, the artist is like, artist is free and away from drama.

And again I don't mean to imply writers shouldn't get paid. but the reason why people don't want to read her work and/or are afraid of her is because she's showing similar traits to the ml of this manhwa, she doesn't try to properly listen and have a civil conversation, harrasing some one who pirated something you have copyright over and cyber bullying them isn't it. If they were really wanted to be mature they could have just send a few messages along with threat of sueing but no they sent their followers on a witch hunt on the author, made rasict remarks. There are illegal readers in Korea as well, the reason sites like nt*ki and tkr are so popular. Why not take them down first? Why not ask every Korean readers if they read legally, ask them to show proofs.

Whatever the person said in the thread is true. Would you really want to support a person who's xenophobic? While reading her psychiotic rant on Twitter, I got the feeling that the author thinks all the international readers are reading illegal, calls them slurs, and wants kill them. Then, later realized her mistakes and hastily tried to cover it up.

I could also point it out that, most of her works romanticizes some from of r*pe. Is it really okay to support someone who keeps making stories about romanticizing something disgusting like r*pe, even in the form of fiction.
It would do you good to know the people behind the works before you support them. Who knows, later you might realize that the person you were supporting turned out like Seo Ilmo.

YD *did* just send the threat of suing and it’s only after the uploader was like “fuck this you’re crazy lol” right after and blocked her that YD put out the bounty. Not defending YD’s actions but the uploader was not helping herself by responding like that. And the majority of yaoi stories on here romanticize rape, because unfortunately it’s a normal trope for Japanese/Korean BL. It feels like 8/10 yaoi stories I read have the rape victim fall in love with their rapist. Painter of the Night and so many other popular manhwa are the same but they are hella thriving. So many best selling books (not BL but novels) romanticize horrible things, but it’s fiction and the normal person understands for themselves that fiction is different from reality…

These recent few updates I have no clue

okayy so when takemitchy held mikey's hand he went back in time but only 10 years (he used to go 12 years back) when he returned back everyone was having a normal life and they all had left the world of violence... takemitchy met everyone and told chifuyu that he came back from the future and what his moto is this time... also when toman disbanded the underworld was in a chaos everyone was trying to get on the top (as toman was no more) it turned into a civil war, every group was fighting...now there were 3 strong groups... brahman (led by Kawaragi Senju), )Rokuhara Tandai (led by Terano South) and kantou manji (led by mikey) these 3 gangs settled the war and then came to be known as the "3 deities" the other two other than mikey were as strong as mikey...so takemitchy's goal was to get mikey out of the darkness and stop doing illegal work...for that he will have to become the strongest and defeat the deities...when takemitchy told chifuyu this, chifuyu suggested to ask help from the former members of toman...but when takemitchy saw all of them leading a normal life he decided not to ask them for help because he doesn't wanna ruin their peaceful life and get them into fighting again...when he decided this, he got a call from draken who asked him to visit draken at his shop...when takemitchy went there he saw that draken has fixed a bike which was given to him(draken) by mikey...draken suggested to go on a test drive kind of thing on the bike...when they were riding (takemitchy was driving it) they suddenly saw another bike coming on which was inupi and another person who was holding him...inupi shouted to get away while the person who was holding him threw inupi towards takemitchy and draken...the man who was holding inupi was the leader of rokuhara tendai (on of the 3 deities)....his name is terano south...he asked draken to join his gang but draken said he have retired and wont be joining any of the gang's from now on...at the same time a lot of members of rokuhara tendai gathered there (the team who's leader is terano)...now as draken refused to join terano, terano punched draken a few times and draken went flying everytime...as draken was on ground terano looked at takemitchy and said "now its your turn" or something like that...at the same time a guy came flying towards terano's leg (it was a member of terano's gang)...and entered the gang brahman (the one who came first is not the leader of brahman but holds a high position probably the vice president)...now terano asked brahman why did they come here and the guy who came with brahman(his name is takeomi) he answered they came here to scout takemitchy...everyone was shocked but then spoke kakucho (remember the childhood friend of takemitchy who had a large scar on his face) kakucho belonged to the gang of terano..the one who wanted draken...now as kakucho spoke more members of rokuhara tendai came in (mochizuko kanji, madarame shion. the haitani twins were the people who came in) they all belonged to the worst generation of black dragon....now entered the brahman boss who attacked mochizuko kanji first...his name is kawaragi senju...the brahman leader...now as he entered madarame spoke that the brahman boss is getting too cocky...just as he said that arashi keizou punched him (he is the executive of brahman)....when he punched him kaku (takemitchy childhood friend punched arashi...now another person from brahman appeared..his name is Imaushi wakasa...he = suddenly came behind kaku, scaring him and said "if I was serious, this guy wouldn't be standing here"....now inupi spoke that all these members of brahman are the former members of black dragon who made the gang with mikey's older brother...now draken spoke and said something I don't remember but he meant to start fight.....butttt the police entered and all of them fled away...now draken and takemitchy were on their bike and draken told takemitchy that he is actually a member of brahman...that's were the last ep ends
