This guy needs some serious therapy omg...
He (presumably) has PTSD from him and his lover constantly being subject to rumors and abuse, and is also treated like trash by his family who thinks the only solution is violence and money. That is probably why he went around town beating people up because that's the only way he's ever seen things being solved is with violence.

I love their relationship. They are just so open and honest with one another and it's just so refreshing to see such a healthy relationship

This manga was really good. Was. I really enjoyed the beginning, and I will likely continue to read it, but I just want to comment that this is not real BDSM. If you are a dom or aspiring dom, it is OKAY to ask for help. It is OKAY to appear weak in front of your sub. It is NOT okay to leave your sub to clean up after themselves (ch 8). and most importantly it is NOT okay to NOT provide aftercare. The whole point of BDSM is the consent and trust between the dom and sub that allows them to be vulnerable with one another. The most recent chapters, with Aoi getting involved without the sub's knowledge and consent is NOT okay. Yes, BDSM can be dangerous at times, but that is exactly why you should ask for help, especially from a more experienced dom. The fact that Hojou thinks that Aoi has to do this on her own just proves how immature she is and how little she really understands about BDSM practices.

I can't believe I only just realized the last two chapters are a continuation from ch.1

I liked everything except for the big ass watermark in the middle of their bodies on every. single. page.

I get you need it, but can't it be put somewhere a bit more inconspicuous or at least a little smaller.
I was trying to read but just got distracted instead....

I'm only on ch 20 so far and the relationship is sooo unbelievably toxic. Dude is possessive, controlling, untrusting, and narcissistic. Every time they have sex the uke is always complaining or saying it hurts and the dude just doesn't fucking listen, it just feels like reading dubcon or rape. Every. Single. Time. Dude always acts like he didn't do anything wrong and actively blames the uke for stuff he didn't do.

If you looked up 'misunderstanding' or 'miscommunication' in the dictionary you'd find this manga.

Things the seme has done that are toxic:
-threaten uke
-rape uke
-emotionally manipulate/control uke
Things the seme has done that are NOT toxic:
-

I am not victim blaming the uke, I would just like to point out that he is like such a perfect target for this kind of toxic relationship. He lacks confidence and is fairly timid and non-confrontational, yet also naive so he easily follows the flow of things and isn't able to properly solve problems or arguments that he (unknowingly) causes.

ch 23 was interesting because the uke actually spoke up against the seme's verbal abuse.

ch 24/25, @ the seme's friend, I feel like you've got the right spirit, but it also feels wrong. Maybe he's correct by saying the seme is in love with the uke, but from an observational view, it simply feels like there is no love just possessiveness. Given the seme's narcissistic personality, it just feels like the only reason he was even interested in the uke to begin with was because he was a person capable of giving the seme absolute attention and obedience; the only reason he fought so hard to find the uke was to rekindle the attention he received from the uke (+ answers as to why he left).

ch 24/25, now @ the uke's friend, SLOW your fucking roll big boi. I understand that you like the uke but he is trying to get out of a toxic relationship and doesn't need to immediately jump back into the dating pool with you. Also, by confessing his feelings he is just making their friendship difficult and basically forcing more emotional distress upon the uke as well as putting him in a tough spot in terms of his living situations since he was supposed to live with him. Additionally, he is just adding flame to the fire by egging the seme on and creating more tension, which will lead to just a messy break up (although since this is a yaoi manga it'll just be a messy argument but they will stay together).

So around ch 29, the seme gives the uke space (wow, doing something good) but only after apologizing and confessing his feeling and emotionally manipulating him (wow, typical, and not great). The seme is saying all the things the uke wants/needs to hear and then tops it off with a "I'll be waiting"

Honestly, if the uke's dumbass officer friend didn't confess his feeling and had just let things progress, the uke would've had more opportunity and less guilt about moving and getting away from the seme.

ch 29 ... he misses him. I don't know whats to miss since all they did when meet was have sex...
*finger guns* and thats on emotional manipulation...

ch 30 "I'll treat you right. ill never do anything stupid again..." literally the next line, "just don't cheat on me." Bitch never cheated on him to begin with.

ch 30 "I'm still an idiot." smartest thing the damn uke has said this entire manga.

ch 31 aw poor bb seme is begging him to work less, live with him, pay what he wants for rent by saying he won't put his little wee wee in the uke's dumb butt unless he agrees what true love </3

ch 32 seme literally tells uke's friend(officer) to put some distance so no "unnecessary misunderstandings" happen and the damn officer literally says he's not going to give up
Y'all just want to be miserable, huh?

ch 32 "we'll sometimes get into fights, but soon make up. That's what relationships are all about, right?"
no.

I made it, I finished it. Um, if you enjoyed the manga, good for you? This was just a terrible experience for me. Like, some people can change, but in my own personal experience, it's not that easy or common so I just found it unbearable. I've dealt with narcissistic people before and they really just do not change, even when they insist they will.

Side note, usually I'm not this harsh on any one particular manga, however I'm tired and this manga felt as though it portrayed a more realistic viewing on a toxic relationship. As a really outlandish example, Killing Stalking, obviously extremely abusive and toxic, but not really realistic. Like, maybe something similar could happen or has happened one day, but it'd be more of a 1 in a million, whereas A Fine Line seems like a dime a dozen, near textbook example of toxicity in an everyday relationship.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading what was basically a book report, bye.
