wait what-- it's been so long since i read the novel, my memories are failing me i wanna read this part again oreooooooo
. . . . Basically moondae’s high school classmate accused Moondae of stealing someone’s pads in high school which caused him to drop out (could’ve been the girl but I’m pretty sure it was him). Moondae doesn’t know if it’s true or not since obv he wasn’t in the body when it happened and he has a breakdown where he reveals to some of his teammates (I think it’s the same age line) find out that he (the og body) tried to commit suicide.
In the end, the original victim steps up and says although the story is true, Moondae didn’t do it and I think it was pinned on him so he dropped out but I’m not too sure about that part. Either way he didn’t do it, so it gets resolved like that and Moondae gets a boost in popularity for confirming his innocence.
