why? not trying to be rude just curious i havent read this yet Aaaa
I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t really find the appeal to it or why it’s so popular. This is my opinion but it’s a very predictable and repetitive plot. The whole storyline is basically someone hurts the fl, big daddy ml saves her and she’s all happy again. It felt like I was reading misery porn. Personally I feel like she could have been a good representation of abuse if the story wasn’t so repetitive and basically trauma porn. I’m not joking like some wild ass shit happens to her and she acts like nothing afterwards because she was saved. Like the maid try to kill her, the typical female villainess also tried to kill her, a 14-year-old boy attacked her, her abusive brother assaulted her and try to kidnap her. The list can literally go on. You can name anything at this point and this girl has been through it. All these things happen so she can just get saved. If you are into ink, Steve romance.
Then don't read it. No one's telling you to do so eritaichou

I don’t think you understand the fl(not that you have to) but in order to understand this storyline you have to know that Ruby been living this type of life where including her past life where she puts up a fake persona in order to survive. In her past life her whole family was dysfunctional and abusive I'm pretty sure she experienced severe abuse than what they showed us as well as the abuse she is going through right now with Caesar. She thinks that what she is going through is nothing compared to the abuse she has to endure from Caesar so therefore she thinks it isn’t as a big deal. Caesar did far more worst things to ruby that it doesn’t even compare to the mirror scene. So she doesn't act like nothing afterwards she just is so used to situations like this that she started to normalize it like she does with her eating disorder. The part where you said the ml saves her and she’s all happy again is not completely true. Yes she is happy because someone finally took her side and trusted her no matter what the situation is and to remind you again she puts on this fake mask where she is happy all the time but in reality she never opened her heart fully to Izek despite him saving her in fear of him leaving her or changing like everyone else. (sorry if this is long)

I understand the story I just simply don’t think it’s well written at all. You don’t need to torture a character in order to show that they have trauma. Also, it’s much more than the whole Caesar situation the most unrealistic and out-of-pocket shit be happening to her. Like I said the maid try to kill her, the cliché villainess try to kill her, somehow a 14-year-old boy assaulted her and the list can literally go on. Throughout the whole entire story all you see her is cry, get assaulted and saved. I need more to a story then just seeing the character get tortured and humiliated that’s trauma porn. There’s many ways to move a plot other than making, every single character have no purpose other than hating and abusing the female lead or there to protect and save her. If you wanna read an actual good representation of abuse that would be lost in the cloud. That’s how you write complex and well rounded characters.

The storyline is abuse and giving hope but it could have gone 1 million other ways I’m going to use lost in the cloud as an example other characters have purpose, they have a good reason to not like the main characters, they do not get saved because sadly abuse victims don’t get saved and we generally understand why the things that happened to them and they’re not randomly getting assaulted. I can’t say the same for this story the reason why they don’t like Ruby is because she is from an enemy country that’s it. They’re all very cliché villains it felt like I was reading a Disney princess fairytale.

Putting in her in all sorts of situations because the author unfortunately cannot write decently

Oh my god? I was kinda debating with the air about how you were wrong and then I saw that you brought up LITC, and I compared the two, and oh my god, you were fucking right, like I do like this story on its own like its the typical predictable story and I’m basic like that but it’s true that the author lacks the formula for well written characters, I was laughing so muxh when I broke my silence from comparing the two as if I was doing a mock exam back in highschool
