Yes, although the plot is weird since it's kind of sci-fi, this turn of events is really illogical even if you ignore most parts. I hope he gets older soon, tbh i don't really see the point of this.

The purpose of this part of the story is to reveal something about the past... Remember that the wife and the mc saw a picture of the old guy when he was young together with the wife's (MC's wife) biological father and they're curious about it so yeah ╮(￣▽￣)╭
But there are so many other ways to do that which would probably work out better from a plot perspective tbh
