She didn't tell. Coz she thinks riftan will be disillusioned and will hate her coz she wasnt the pampered and loved daughter he thought she was. But.... He did saw it. He saw the duke in the act of beating maxi. Maxi was so beaten up her whole face was swollen. Riftan took a chair and smashed it on the duke. Lol. Wished it was metal chair. He beat the Duke near death when i think it was the magician took his attention telling him maxi needs a healer. He was dead set on waging war. Even the knights who was with him at that time and saw Maxi commented that there really is no way other than war(they were wishing for it too)
