I like this manga, but so many of the characters are so damn annoying, it's unbearable! Fuck Yuyu, that sociopathic bitch. I know her type. I went to middle school with her type, so I'm really feeling for Nana. And what's up with the main guy (shir-something, forgot his name >.<) What does he mean Yuyu and Nana are similar? Is he seeing something I'm not???? Last I checked, Nana wasn't a manipulative asshole. I like him, for the most part. He's one of the better male characters of Shoujo manga, but him saying that really irked me.
Anyway, I hope Nana befriends the new girl and ditches her "friends" once and for all. Like Nana, I'm also getting a little sick of the ostracization/friendship cycle.
*Whew*
It's been a while since I've felt so strongly over a shoujo manga. I'm looking forward to reading more!
Yeah but I kind though about a new friend. Nana getting back to act it's good that she avoid yuyu if talk face to face can't open yuyu eyes. Don't you get tired after her fake act (yandere the opposite of tsundere), just avoid her and she will tired herself. The other 2 bitch friends who loves bully it's likely poison to me, they didn't care who will be the target bully. Just you wait a karma will haunted you
Yeah, I got pissed off, too, when he said they were alike. They are not, really, at all alike. If he had said, "Oh, you two asked me the same thing," that's different than saying, "Oh, you two are alike." Me and Jeffrey Dahmer might ask someone the same question, but I'm not like Jeffrey Dahmer. Yuyu is a manipulative, deceptive, possessive, controlling psycho. Nana just wants to get along and not be isolated. Big, big, big difference.
Yeah shioka is mystery too. When the other didn't notice, he noticed something wrong with Nana. But maybe shioka just want to end it the annoying yuyu. So yuyu didn't make Nana more suffer, maybe shioka kun said that they are alike just from how those two said it like a copy paste. Because yuyu is the dark queen copy paste Nana is just small matter for her. But this is just my opinion okay?
She already said why. I forget what chapter, but she said it's about keeping what you love, even if they suffer. Happiness or suffering of the loved one doesn't matter to her. It's keeping them with her, possession of them, control of them. She is losing control of Nana, so she does desperate, BAD, sneaky things to keep her under control.
Now, why she's like that? Maybe they'll give us a backstory to explain it or maybe not. It could just be how she's wired. She wants to control and possess. Notice how she controls the other bully girls, controls the class through them, too, and even tries to manipulate Shioka-Kun. That's just how she rolls. Anything to KEEP hold of Nana.
Also, in manga "Takasugi-san chi no obentou", one character is bullying the heroine on purpose. It's done in a "light way", so that the other girls won't bully her badly. No one wants to be the bad guy, so if there is one girl who already acquired that position, the other girls will just watch. It's a social control for protecting the heroine.
Those two girls become good friend at the end by the way.
Okay, so I wasn't exactly the biggest fan of the m.c. It's not like I'm not used to seeing characters, especially main characters, being wary of homosexuality, but outright homophobia? It was a bit hard to get past--BUT--that's just my feelings on the matter, I'm not going to nitpick that aspect of the story.
I didn't like how the manga went about making him more "tolerant" towards homosexuality. Now, I'm all for sexual exploration and what not, but I felt it kind of cheapened the effects of the homophobia? I get it's a yaoi manga, I know it's going to be sex-heavy, but using it to dissuade him from discriminating against the LGBTQ? Surely there are better ways, Author-san.
The other characters also bothered me. I've never seen a cast of characters act so nonchalant towards sexual harassment. I hate how they'd just dismiss the sexual harassment the main character would experience in every. damn. chapter. How dare his coworkers blame him for defending himself???And to send him BACK to resolve the situation? I almost quit right then and there.
And it's like sexual harassment was coded as some sort of norm for the gay community. Because of this, I felt the author was trying to get us to forgive the m.c for his prejudice. The message being "Can you blame him for his discrimination when gays are like THAT?"
But despite my criticisms, I do (more or less) /like/ this manga. It has an interesting setup, it's a refreshing read. I just wish its concepts were handled better.
Okay but you have to understand that he was almost raped twice by people who happened to be homosexual. The only thing he knows about them is that he is scared of them and they tried to rape him. So when he meets Tomiko he learns more about that and thus his aspect of the topic starts to change. He is still very traumatized tho
His phobia is well justified in my onion.
Yeah, sorry. I didn't word that bit correctly. I meant to say that I get where his prejudice comes from, I just didn't like how the author seemed to reaffirm his prejudice by making gays out to be exactly as he feared (e.g in the past molested by his senpai/in the present molested by his coworkers.)
I actually like the concept that the author explores. How someone so homophobic can overcome their homophobia and even begin to work with people like drag queens and have relationships with queer people.
The mangaka is doing a terrible job with the plot... the plot seems like an excuse for light SM sexiness and fanservice
Anyone else seeing the Sherlock/Hobbit influences, lol. This was an interesting manga. It really captured fans well (well it was written by a fan, but still ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭)
