i binged this today and i really like it. it's far from your soft and fluffy shoujo and some of those romances where the yakuza are portrayed in a light hearted manner - this is like the worst of the worst and it's really interesting; there is blood, there is violence, there is sleeping around, there is "cheating" and all in all scary behaviour. the characters are very unique, i am extremely fond of yoshino's personality and how she "handles" being a women in the yakuza - she's not someone who lets men do as they please in her presence and she is strong (as women are) such a good read i really enjoyed this. even if kirishima and yoshino dont end up together i am really fond of their dynamics. but wow, what a great manga.
WOAHHH OKAY NOW IM STARTING TO GET WORRIED. i feel like a lot of sports manga have a very similar pattern - lose the first chance to go to nationals/lose tornament then win to go to nationals/win the entire tournament, but we rarely see after that so now im getting worried. i dont believe seido will lose but im nervous. i love this manga and how it is written, but i dont like the idea that ichidai can hit eijun's pitch and score off him and seido, while seido have to use a moment where amahisa's condition wavers, if that makes sense. seido are not the weaker team.
that aside, i get the feeling that the change in the tides- the change in the results - will be due to eijun and masashi - idk why i get that feeling but i do, i feel like they will help bring some numbers onto the board. i just hope seido win and they win well so they aren't in poor condition before their match with inashiro. but yeah im very nervous super super nervous, although this was a good chapter.
Actually, the seido line-up has more hits off Amahisa than Ichidai’s on Sawamura. The run scored against Sawamura was unearned. The runner got on base due to Zono’s error and a fluke hit to left plus a high throw resulted in Eijun ceding a run, definitely not Eijun’s fault.
As of ch. 239’s spoilers (if they are true), Ichidai has 3 hits on Sawamura (one of them due to an error so just 2 hits really) while Seido has about 5 hits (plus walks) against Amahisa. Seido’s hits are scattered though, they aren’t connecting.
However, it’s the latter innings now and the batters are more likely to connect. According to ch. 239 spoilers, Miyuki got a solid hit on Amahisa’s slutter, he hit it near the fence but it got caught. So yeah, Seido is gonna start scoring soon. I dunno if it’s in the 7th, 8th or 9th and by how many runs but yes, Seido is certainly not the weaker team.
yeah no, i completetly agree the run was unearned due to errors that could have been avoided and i am now aware that seido overall have hit off amahisa more than ichidai have hit off of eijun (i saw that this comment was a spoiler so i just waited for this chapter to come out), but it is still a little frustrating to know that ichidai were still able to make something out of errors due to the fielders.
i also agree with what you said about how seido are going to attack later on in this manga - im glad it's no longer "amahisa is falling apart" or anything like that, and that he is also getting better like eijun, so when seido start hitting off of him, it is because they are just that strong. because of what eijun has said about being an ace that makes up for the fielders' errors, and the fact that masashi is a crazy slugger - i am convinced once again that they will put something on the board.
im glad to know the u20s arent crap, so this arc will definitely be really exciting. so far we have only seen oliver move and tbh he is pretty cool and really clever. but honestly, every time isagi gets THAT way (like, you know what i mean...THAT way) when he's up against a strong opponent, and then the puzzle pieces come flying and his entire personality does a 180, i know the next chapter are gonna be fucking insane. but seriously, he is so freaking cool especially at the end of this chapter the intensity just went sky high
i feel really bad for miku (like really bad for miku, because she is a victim here) but her behaviour really really rubs me the wrong way in chapter 6. her telling hikaru that she was dirty and blaming him for being assaulted was wrong, considering how she knows how hikaru feels about what happened to his sister. whether she believes she is dirty or not, im not sure but she knew what she was doing when she said what she said to hikaru. guilt tripping isnt fair.
that aside, i want to know how miku really feels about being raped because i cant tell if she is indifferent or really traumatised
i cant even describe the pain i felt in my chest when miyuki hit amahisa's pitch (because i thought fucking finally) only for it to be caught - it felt like i got shot
