yes the uncle is being homophobic and a prick but what he accidentally taught his niece isnt even a homophobia only issue! There are so many different types of families and family situations... Him making this kid think that everyone else is "weird" in a bad way because they are different from her is horrible. I ASSUME this is gonna be "fixed" or resolved with a happy end but damn...
I don't know if I misunderstood but I Don't know if homophonic is really the word I mean he is a gay guy that was told his whole life the being him is wrong so is more like he "learned" what is "wrong or right" as if everything is black and white and there are a lot of LGBT+ people that to this day avoid doing a lot of things even holding hands in public because thay think is "wrong" I am not defending what he did he is wrong, but I don't think he was being homophonic I think he was being genuinely scared
I could just be talking nonsense but idk that's just what I got from the writing...
He internalized this notion of homophobia from other people, as you said, he learned what's "right or wrong" and he expressed his opinion in that way. So in that sense, I would say he is homophobic. Even if someone is queer, they can still be queerphobic to other groups of people who don't necessarily follow their lifestyle.
If he was just scared, I think he would avoid the conversation altogether instead of spouting nonsense.
if something bad happens Imma cry.
And I bet thats grandpa
