Anyone who is about to read this please consider it a psychological and not a romance because erm what the fuck.
Spoilers ahead but like year maybe Ensung wasn’t the best person since he really likes the feeling of making someone codependent and ripping that away, but it’s not like he does it to good people. His exes besides Subin were emotionally and physically abusive and him staying in the relationship never fixed anything. I huge issue I have with romance stories often is that characters never understand when enough is enough. They never take a step back and understand that you shouldn’t have to “power through” a relationship to make it work.
Eunsung probably felt the need to garner affection either because he related it to them getting love in his first relationship, or he felt bored now that he had nothing to discover or “work on.”
In the end I personally think it’s a really shitty end, as it leaves you in a grey space of them being happy but also the situation being highly toxic and unlovable from a reader’s perspective. Personally, and not because I wanna see them suffer, but I think if Jinwoo killed himself it would have solidified the idea of this story being a psychological and not some crappy romance.
Can we just note Minji and the other friends being absolute icons as well as fucking dumbasses for letting Eunsung get back together with Jinwoo like god damn something when my friends want to get back with an ex I feel like I dedicate a month to just reminding them of why they broke up in the first place.
I would honestly be really curious to let a population read this and then do a survey and see if they believe this story has a happy ending or not because it really is debatable. Well that’s all I have to say thank you to coming to my tedtalk
