Okay I think Asashi is really immature! I mean, just because you see your partner with someone else doesn't meant that they are betraying you, this shit got me laughing

He isn’t immature, he’s extremely insecure, two different things. We’ve seen that same insecurity in the last chapters, Yugo told him that he’d fade Asashi if he was a girl, so he thought he had to change(be a girl), so seeing Yugo with other girls makes him really anxious and insecure, he feels like he’s not enough, since he’s a guy. Yugo also doesn’t help, although he didn’t do anything wrong, he has yet to portray his actual feelings for Asashi, put it on the table you know? At least he’s aware of how Asashi feels.

Yeah agreed. I hope they have an open conversation. Like the one thing I always hope for in these things is for the characters to have deep open conversation then that'll open up their feelings and stop misunderstandings but I guess that also comes up with character development, so yeah can't really blame anyone haha

There are so many things wrong with this manga. Why does most of the yaoi have to be forced/rape in the beginning. That's not how relationships work and that's fucked up. And I can't believe there are tons of people who read and enjoy it because this romanticizes (like fuck what even) rape and sexual harrasment.
I know it's just fiction and smut but these are the things through which messages spread. Why can't we all just enjoy healthy consensual smut? I crave for it now. Most of the yaoi I've seen are so toxic that I'm growing tired of it.

I mean yes, that’s not how things work in the western world. But do you know if it’s the same in Japan?
The artists will most likely represent their own society and (no surprises here) that’s the Japanese and not the American one. Also, these mangas are aimed at Japanese manga readers, not you.
If you want to read mangas/comics that suit your society and your tastes, I recommend reading works from American/western artists.

ngl at this point if i read through the manga and i like what happens afterwards i just pretend it didn’t happen. like i rewrite it in my own mind so i can enjoy it. i do really hate how some mangas romanticize sexual abuse but when you’re reading a genre that brushes past this you kind of just get used to it.
but i do agree that when a manga relationship is consensual it automatically makes the story 10x better because the author knows how to write a relationship in a complex uncliché way.

read history of yaoi. most of the time the rape and super twisted tropes that are liked because of the intended eroticism are written by women. it has a dark background as to why women started this and why women are doing it and enjoy it as well...now no people are used to fiction being an outlet for every dark idea one has and get hooked on the freedom of imagination. the only issue is that if people get used to certain images, they can get desensitized and either a threat or a victim in future situations. it does not happen often, but there are increasing cases of people like this. the brain does not differenciate between imagination and reality, so it is processed the same way in the brain, only self reflection can do that, but not many people self reflect though. you can see it in comments :) but human are humans so yeah...it's just fiction, just fiction haha..in reality no one would say that this is not rape, right?

That's how things work in the western world? I didn't know consent is only for the western world. I don't care if it's not aimed at me lol, I didn't know rape and sexual harrasment is a cultural thing? :O
So Japanese culture is rape? And then falling in love? Are you sure? Or is it just a fetish and romanticizing fantasies?

This is a well written discussion! Fiction may be a outlet for dark imagination but as long as we have a consience that doesn't let us be influenced by it, well and good. But reading the comments on here that cheer the harrasment as something (duh that's what love stories are like!) Amazing and justifying rape as Japanese culture is just hard hitting. We can only hope that no one would say that :)

I wouldn’t say that Japanese culture is rape. But there is more of sexism and sexual harassment than what we are used to. Also the way it is perceived is different: what we would see as mildly upsetting is still ok in Japan. The culture is one that supports men and they are the ones in charge (politically and romantically). That’s also the reason why most ukes are really feminine and won’t talk back to the seme.
Talking about rape, it definitely is horrible, and it’s also horrible in Japan but a lot of things aren’t really seen as rape (like how a lot of women have experienced sexual harassment but they didn’t notice it as such bc "it’s common" that some random dude just touches their ass at the disco and things like that). So what we see as nonconsentual can still be perfectly normal in Japan.
It’s becoming better in the recent years in Japan but a lot of mangas on here are already some years old and even in new mangas rape is still drawn a lot bc it has been like that for quite some time.
I love how wholesome and nicee the story is going, but plis make the other ship happen too, I'm so impatient (≧▽≦)
