I hate it when people rate really good works with few stars. This deserves a 9+, it's a decent and cute, consensual bl with likable characters. So glad I decided to give it a read!

I feel anxious and uncertain with Mugyeong, and I'm just reading a fictional story for God's sake. Realistically, Yohan deserves so much more. Mugyeong treats him as a piece of shit under his feet and takes him for granted. He never ever chased him in any form and never even tried to change his cold and objectively indifferent demeanor. It's not about being expressionless. And not even about being shy to verbally show your affection. The whole dismissive atmosphere the fucker gives when around Yohan, the gaslighting and zero desire to understand your supposed partner... Yohan is not physical, not abusive, he doesn't restrain in any way, he is just obviously in pain and needs reassuring. Needs fucking love. And yet this piece of shit behaves like Yohan's feelings and thoughts are nothing worthy of pausing and thinking about.

Yohan is a very empathetic guy, he has a great sense of other people and their feelings, especially of his loved one. And it is objectively clear that his anxiety is not growing out of nowhere. And the reason is not jealousy. The reason is that he doesn't feel loved. How insensitive a bastard do you have to be to not give the person you chose to be with for 7 years the feeling that he is loved?
I'm just so angry for Yohan and feel like a lot of other objective and empathetic people feel the same so I had to rumble at least a tiny bit
You know, Mugyeong was giving the same vibe and annoying attitude throughout the whole main story till the end, but there it was in-character. And also logical and realistic. Like, they are teens with two different tempers, they both are just discovering themselves in world in general and in love in particular. It all looked like defence mechanism on Mugyeong's part, unconscious way to deal with frustration, anxiety and shyness of first love.
But man, you are an adult in a 7 year long relationship now! It looks like Yohan is the one to accept and give love unconditionally in this relationship, while Mugyeong doesn't have to lift a finger to do something for his partner. What for? He will swallow anything, any insult, any bitter retort, anything. He will chase him and feel like everything is his fault (we see this even in the chapter - no, Mugyeong is innocent, it's me who fucked up).
But somehow Mugyeong only becomes an expressionless and timid self with Yohan. He has no problem with respective, appropriate and friendly vibes if he is to give them to his new "not interested in him at all" friend. He is also suddenly open and emotional and able to express himself at least a tiny bit when talking to Yuri. But with Yohan it's all annoyance, dismissal and avoiding
Why being together? Oh, because it's convenient to have a simp you can gaslight around

Feels like the author came up with a long-ass script for a complex, psychological drama to be told in 5+ volumes of painful slow-burn manifesting into a cathartic happy ending, but editors and publishers said 'nah, fit it all into one tiny 5 chapters' bookie and the deadline was yesterday btw'
The last page is a masterpiece. It's 7 am, I haven't slept yet and it's been almost an hour of me crying. It hurts so much, physically. God this is painful. It's like a part of me died as well.
I'm almost 100% sure that Tenju will be injured and on the verge of dying. And he will be transported to the local hospital for emergency surgery. This way our cutie doctor will finally overcome his trauma by saving his loved one with his own hands, while the sexy yakuza will be "reborn" and able to find himself and his path outside this little sleepy city.
Well, that's what I'd have written in my story as the most predictable finale

also, gonna be honest - after the amount of justified backlash from readers I naively hoped the author (or rather - her team) might at least fix this up a bit and create another mediocre yet passable story out of it, and until the flashback chapters I still clung to the said hope

I've been "reading" the first season skipping smut because it just makes me sick and also makes no sense - zero contribution to the story, zero passion, even the art is soulless in this one, the obviously traced 3d models are too in the face
So yeah, I've been solely focusing on the plot (or whatever this is) and oh god I feel bad for anyone unironically loving the "story"

because, as I've said, there really were a lot of people uncomfortable (to say the least) with the story, its pacing, its messaging etc, to the point the author couldn't ignore it
there are thousands of similar or worse examples, but come on - this one is huge and popular, scrutiny is a sister of success thanks god
so yeah, even though I hate smut in this work (and skip these boring as fuck parts), I still am curious if the author would at least try to save this flop
