I think one thing I hate the most from ppl who read yaoi, is that the 'uke' tend to be labeled sluts and other degrading words when they're more promiscious or have more sexual actvity, but it's competely ok for the 'seme' - and instead their multiple partners would be referred to as 'his hoes', etc. Just an observation, obviously not exclusive to this webtoon. But then again, I'm not surprised bc misogyny is so normalised. Yaoi is literally so hetero in that sense lol
authors NEED to stop...including rape in their webtoon (and then make the 'uke' actually like it in the next chapter - which btw in itself is super problematic too). it's really, really weird and it just makes consumers who fetishise bl, become desensitise to these scenes and act like its normal (when it should never be normal). and if you are going to add borderline rape scenes, don't make it between a couple you're going to make endgame bc like i said, weird. you can say that authors can do whatever they want, like sure, but you gotta remember they also bare responsibilities (lets not pretend like majority of yall aint under 17 lol) and consumers are allowed to give feedback. im not gonna blindly support someone lmao
lik when will y'all realise that having R rated or NSFW scenes does not necessarily mean having to include rape. it's can mean other illegally and morally ambiguous activities LMAO, for e.g. murder and revenge between rival gangs, which btw does not need to include rape and would be much more interesting.
gtfo w the idea that disapproving rape makes u a softie. weird af mindset. a simple google search comes along way lmaoo. yeah sure, rape might be involved in gangs but like i said, not towards romantic partners - or i'd simply be a crime or whatever. not a hard concept to grasp but act dumb if u want
this isnt even a 'toxic' relationship, it's literally just abuse and violence with a touch of stockholm syndrome?? all of these scenes are so unnecessary too, what exactly is it adding to the 'plot'??? yeah ok we already know seungho is a psychopath with weird abandonment issues, u dont need to remind us every 2nd chapter lol. im also so confused like does the author expect us to sympathise with seungho and want them to get together.......
I agree that character development is about change. I’m just giving an example of the type of development that the author (and readers) are obviously goin for - which is basically changing seungho into a ‘better’ character since that’s literally the only direction that would make sense. I just think calling that character development is problematic bc there’s nothing redeemable or justifiable about seungho’s characterisation
I got your point, I just think most of the fandomn embellished Seungho behavior too much to the point they created a personage who isn’t him. Now they get all shocked when he does that to Nakyum, he was already like that and he treated his past lovers the same way! I agree he truly love Nakyum but he doesn’t even know how to behave with someone he cherish and end up locking him hip, raping and hurting. If he doesn’t work on himself and get therapy for his traumatic past he will always treat Nakyum this way
hot take but isaac is the hotter one
