I understand both of them but I feel more sympathetic towards the seme. I'd get so hurt if I did all my best to help my lover but hear from them that I'm the reason they're depressed. It's not like the seme is boasting about being the provider. The reason why he lied is so that the uke wouldn't feel bad /inferior.
