Not only did the blonde guy not notice that she was being mistreated her whole 5 yrs living there but even when he’s now seeing the signs of how badly his neglect effected her situation, he still seems to believe he’s not in the wrong. Also this bullshit about not wanting her to leave cuz he’s actually somehow in love with her is crazy, they didn’t even spend time together in those 5 yrs. I hate plots where they make the mls seem so regretful when none if it would have actually occurred if he actually cared for her. I’m glad he isn’t the ml. I don’t gaf abt the mind control when even without it he never properly took care of her. This book really triggers me, like imma be honest as someone who also has trauma with men. Like one step brother is fucking obsessed with her, the other one only gives a shit abt money, and to top it all of the person who was literally contracted to protect her fucking did almost nothing for her. What was the fucking point of her leaving her family for her to just continue to get mistreated. I don’t dislike the mc nor do I think she is weak, I just hate the men in the book and honestly it’s bringing back some of my own horrible memories with men.
