imo his memory of the wounded fox was rlly just an added thing. but it was never stated nor even implied that inaho was in love w the fox he saved, or that he loved subaru bc he thought subaru was the fox he saved. he explained that he’d been glad to be the bride of the kitsune bc he felt thankful (from his brother) not bc of his memory of saving one of them.
it definitely came from a feeling of gratitude at first, before he truly fell in love with subaru.
