I think the story is pretty long and not yet complete. Part 1: This is the Prequel
The founding emperor and a village girl granted to be a goddess by "Destiny" (both a being and literal meaning) fell in love. Whomever took the Goddess' heart was able to grant 3 wishes. The "Goddess" has a fragile body and not recommended to have kids, nevertheless, they had three kids. With each kid, her body weakens. The emperor hated his children especially since with each birth, it threatened the Goddess' life. It escalated when the eldest wanted to kill his mom (Goddess), so the emperor killed the the eldest. The Goddess loathed the emperor for killing the eldest. At the same time, partial reason why the eldest child wanted to kill his mom, the goddess, was because the goddess' childhood friend was an incel that couldn't accept rejection from the goddess whom married the emperor and instigated it. Thus, the emperor was enraged and killed the incel and sent soldiers to the village. The emperor was basically a madman. As the village knew witchcraft, they supposedly placed a curse on the empire after knowing the soldiers were coming, but they somehow all disappeared or died after the curse (maybe sacrificed to place the curse). The empire was in famine due to the curse. The emperor was enraged + decided to pacify the citizens by blaming on witchcraft so they basically committed genocide.
The survivors fled and created the Vishen (I don't remember the spelling) kingdom, enemy kingdom.
Along this plot, for the prosperity of the kingdom, the emperor made a wish to the goddess, for there to be a blessed child in the royal family and prosperity of the empire. But everything that blessed child loves will be sacrificed in exchange for such a wish.
From part 1's prequel, the ML is the blessed child, thus everything he loves will be sacrificed which includes FL.
FL was simply a chess piece controlled at times by the Goddess due to the wish from the founding emperor.
FL was reincarnated whereby both in the previous and current world, she could see spirits and there are only spirits with lingering regrets and stuff. These ghosts live as long as their memories, when they forget who they are, that is when they become evil spirits.
So nearly died in the front so they momentarily tricked "destiny" as a sacrifice was still made. The ML also tied his heart to hers so if she dies, he dies, and vice versa. As he is the blessed child who supposedly survives till in end, the Goddess can't kill FL either now. However this is only momentarily as "Destiny" has been tricked.
Her current goal is to find the solution to break the curse.
As for the ML, the original blessed child was his brother, the first prince. However, the first prince was like the founding emperor who ruled with violence, so the Goddess transferred the blessings from first child to ML who was the second child. So now the first prince is dying.
Even though the empire was prosperous, it was only the nobles who are very very wealthy, the gap is huge compared to the poverty-stricken commoners.
To add, the wish for the blessed child + empire's prosperity also means the citizens will suffer (Idk how this works, it's probably a loophole). I guess it's like how certain countries are extremely rich in the world yet their people are in poverty.
Citizens within the empire can never go against the emperor's wishes cause of the founding emperor's wish to the Goddess. That's why there were no revolts despite the poverty.
FL despite being poor in her first life forgot all about it after being born noble in her current life and feels extreme guilt. ML wishes to change the empire, Goddess also partially transferred the blessings from the first prince to ML also because she believes that the ML can break the curse by bringing an end or reducing the effects of Monarchy by giving commoners more power.
The Goddess is immortal due to the emperor's wish and have to forever killing the innocent but she also wasn't aware that the founding emperor made a deal with "destiny". If his descendants including ML is able to break the curse or sth, the Goddess will be set free.
There are a lot more details but this is really too long
