The rape scenes were so uncomfortable to read, made me sick and scared. I do think that some authors put them in tho as recognition that rape happens and to make sure the right responses are coming back. You know?

Although authors do say that's the reason for adding it to their works, like the author for Metamorphosis, you have to see how they go about it to really know what their intention is. Do they show the whole rape? Is it drawn in a way that someone can get off on it? Does the victim seem to enjoy it, and what sort of reader does it benefit? Like in literary works, you're able to distinguish an author's intention by the context.

As for this, I'd say it was for fetish reasons. The major clue given is that we're seeing the art in the rapists perspective, his full fantasy. One may counterargue that it was drawn with only that thought in mind, but it has ALL of the details and the full rape. How does drawing this pave the way for the story if it was enough to drive the story when it was said it in this and an earlier chapter? It benefits someone, and it isn't the story. It makes me sad seeing this still happening in BL because it's unfortunately common to see rape being fetishized in the genre.

I agree with this. The scene here very much felt like it was catering to rape fantasy, rather than trying to recognize and condemn rape.
