Nothing too serious really happens between the couple. None of the main characters are really physically, mentally or emotionally harmed. They also solve their issues pretty quickly. This is mostly fluff and smut but such a good read.

well we don't see him level up in the traditional sense but we do see him train with Zod. He was in the tower trying to master his new dragon/magic circle spells. He is overdramatic but he did see millions of people die and if he can't stop death now it will be his fault since he knows "plot point" so to speak.
