The one thing that doesn’t make sense to me is how the doctor could still be attracted to Alex while knowing he’s a serial killer? he even got warned not to get close to him?! Sad he died tho :(
My guess is maybe he wanted to feel needed? His family disowned him, his past lovers didn't seem like nice people (he got scammed) and Clark wasn't able to express his love the doc had asked him to.
Maybe that's also why he was so nice? The goody-two-shoes act so he would fit in and please people. I think he had the need to feel validated and needed, and that's why when he found Alex, he thought it was destiny and he could "fix" the broken minded, neglected child. (From what I remember there was something like that in the doc's mologue right before he died)
