The king never won a wager with his aide. He just kept losing and the bet always centers around the duke. In the future he placed another wager on the gender of Hugh's child. He placed his bet on male while his aide female. The funny thing is, Hugh already knew that his child would be female so he knew the king lost again.
How he knew is because of this:
Taran x Taran (incest relationship) = Male Offspring. (this is how damian was born, his parents were siblings, the psycho taran doctor was the cause of this, they did not know they were siblings)
Taran x Ordinary Female without taran blood = Female Offspring
