This was a shower thought. I think the reason why we ship the main leads is that the rivalry/friendship or whatever they have, has more focus and development than the relationship between the MC and the potential love interest.
Yeah for example my parents. When I do something they don't like they use the "After all I've done for you, put a roof over your head, put food on the table, gave birth to you..." like I didn't fucking ask to be born.
