Okay but like just cause an author tells you “ah they’re not actually a bad friend, I just had my expectations too high” doesn’t mean that’s true????? Like the guy is emotionally manipulative as hell and when Sang Hwa finally has the balls to stand up to him he pulls the “I’m trying to be a good friend” pity card. Sang Hwa having expectations for him doesn’t change the fact that the power dynamic in their relationship is all out of wack. Ryun is too controlling and wants to know way too much about Sang Hwa while revealing nothing about his own life. You can’t explanation that away in 2 sentences about how he misunderstood. He’s a shitty friends, regardless of if him being concerned about his friend being associated with a gangster was valid (which it was, I would be concerned too). His other actions show a history of him being toxic and manipulative. He knows he can get away with almost anything in regards to Sang Hwa and he has used that to his advantage soooooo ima call bullshit right here. I know the author is almost definitely going to have this conflict be resolved and not talk about it again because they think saying it was just a misunderstanding but please recognize if your friend does this kind of shit irl you should run. (Not the being concerned for valid reasons part, but the expecting you to be open while they themselves are being closed off)
I hate how people like this always phrase it like they’re trying to help. If he really cared about him he would’ve sat him down and tried to talk calmly, not beat him up when things didn’t go his way. They only reason he’s confronting him is to confirm his own biases which Jungwoo and office lady have already both said are incorrect. At this point the dude is just desperate to be right cause he’s a prick. Ugh I wish I could thanos snap his homophobic ass (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸
It’s especially annoying cause being from the south has caused me to run into people irl (like my old youth director) who act like they’re trying to save you from your sinful, homosexual ways, when in reality all they’re doing is trying to satisfy their superiority complex by informing their backwards views on the other person >:(
People really do be out here trying to call out Mingyum for having genuine mental illness ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ yeah he’s frustrating to watch as a reader at times but he has damn good reason to not trust people and doubt their intentions. His own father treated him like a tool, only offering affection when Mingyum was useful to him and then abandoned him. You don’t go from having no one to depend on your whole life to suddenly in a year being all peachy-keen in long term relationships. The story was pretty realistic in how Mingyum constantly struggled with self worth and trust issues, even after solving the initial conflicts. In real life, once you’re out of an abusive home you don’t suddenly stop having trauma. It stays with you and is a constant struggle (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ Good job to Chan Sam for staying with him through all that tho
thank you. i don’t think people realize just how big of an impact trauma and mental illnesses have on people. depression isn’t just “sadness”. anxiety isn’t just feeling nervous before a test. ptsd isn’t just having bad memories of something. OCD isn’t just being a neat freak. mental illnesses control your life. people need to understand how awful they are and to stop being so fucking rude and shunning people from society because of something they can’t control.
So we’re just going to ignore the fact that the first dude illegally sold and made child pornography..? Alrighty then.
