there's some interesting discussion on ksites where it was debated if humans are considered livestock in this new earth (we're still a lil wary of Promised Neverland), but someone said it seems to be closer to a protected indigenous group
similar to how colonizers will come into an already occupied settlement & proceed to claim it + gentrify everything while pushing the original inhabitants to a small corner of the land.
after settling in, give or take a few decades/centuries of mingling with humans, they will then attempt to "protect" the race they brought to extinction out of guilt, by applying their own beliefs to a vastly different culture and ecosystem, occasionally making things worse instead of better in a misguided attempt to 'save' them.
we can clearly see that the other aliens have a clinical & textbook understanding of human care. while their motives aren't malicious or evil, it still falls short because they're treating Mori like a subject, convinced of their superiority.
meanwhile Miria and the others in her household (while also stumbling at the beginning because all they had were reference books) quickly learned how to truly care for a child because they approached Mori on an equal standing and listened to him.
why am i typing so much? BECAUSE I WILL CRY IF I DON'T DISTRACT MYSELF LET MY BABY GO LET HIM GO HE'S TALKING OH MY GOD HIS FIRST WORD IS BORNE OUT OF FEAR AND LONGING I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE

saw the raws and obviously Miria already knew from the beginning that Rider had a wanted notice and thought nothing of it lmao
and for some reason (to register as a part of her faction or something?) Mori is brought along by Miria to what seemed like the Judge that created her (to introduce him?)
and along the way there are sentries/guards posted that have the exact same headgear with the ones that retrieved (and unintentionally traumatized) the wild Mori while taking him to the orphanage.
please ahhh he's being so brave but on a cliffhanger panel he looked so scared when one of them started turning to look at him ahhhhhhhhh please please let everything be alright

his big baby googly eyes when getting scolded, his dumpling cheek getting smushed and tiny hands and content smile when rider hugs him AAAAAAAAHHHHH ❣❣❣❣❣❣❣
i can feel the deep and intense lovecraftian lore creeping in the edges of the story and it's making me heckin nervous but i am putting blinders on and enjoying happy (and sometimes naughty) mori
-he understands he has been separated from the ones he considers family /he doesn't understand WHY
-he probably smelled Miria's scent in the room and understood that she had been there / he doesn't understand why she went away
-he understands she's beyond that glass /he doesn't understand why he can't go past the glass and tries his best to press against it
-he understands the name to use to call to her / he doesn't understand why she's not coming to pick him up like usual and take him with her, why he's been left behind
mori is so smart and intuitive and i hate to think what he will take away and remember from this traumatizing experience
