I agree people tend to be really harsh on Jennette but I think it comes from bias from Athy and the naivety that Jennette displays shows that she can only think in a round about way. In her head on Jennette exists with her world. Apparently (slight spoilers) Jennette in lovely princess knew that Claude wasn't her father and still felt like he should become her father since it was compensation for killing her real one. Jennette also has a weird fixation on Athy that everyone in the novel and reading the novel picks up on. Im not saying she deserves death or anything, but her presence when she tries to help ends up harming more than helping. I think that's the main reason why people end up disliking Jennette.
