Currently i get the feeling their relationship at this moment is pretty much purely master and her dog, with both of them really being into it. We haven't seen them really outside the bedroom in any meaningful way (which I think was probably the point of her helpers comment/concern) to gage the extent of their real feelings. One reason why I dont think he's the serial killer was when they were rescuing Anne from being executed. They were all together. Except from when he went to look for Giselle. But he was accompanied by Kay at the time.
Or... maybe he did kill Colin... because he thought Colin abandoned him. Thats why when Giselle told him that he must have misunderstood Colin, he repeated the word "Misunderstood." Sort of like he realized he killed Colin over a misunderstanding..
