So basically the "game" that they're playing for a whole month will determine who gets to drink Dongha's blood first?
And they'll need to fill their heart with stickers that they earn when they do something kind or something that Dongha likes.
And whoever's heart fills up first gets to drink his blood, whoever's second is second, and so on.. right?
Well, this game is just dumb.
It just proves that they all (with the exception of Juwon) just want to beat each other to it. Or want to be the first to drink his blood.
I smell an inferiority complex :0
But I do believe their feelings are in the right place. They do enjoy Dongha's company and genuinely like him.
But with the game, they're more focused on who's gonna win the game, rather than who's gonna win Dongha's heart.
And Juwon proves my point.
Juwon didn't even put the sticker on his paper. He didn't fight with the others OR do something that would've negatively affect them. He didn't twist any stories that were passed around and he DIDNT manipulate Dongha or play dirty either.
He helped him when he needed it, and didn't show off to anyone. He didn't even take credit for it.
He helped Dongha with the intent to JUST help. Not expecting anything in return.
But overall, they're ALL sweeties. They're ALL such cuties, and they ALL are so caring in their own ways.
Yes there's a small friendly competition going on, but, you can't just push away the other characters. They are also essential to the story's ending and the story in general.
So, let's give some love to all of them, even though we can (practically) predict the outcome of it all.
CONTAINS SPOILERS
I hated how this story ended. I am one of the few who have read the ENTIRE DAMN novel.
This story was unique and exhilarating to watch and read. I absolutely LOVED how he was portrayed in the anime. But, even though the creators wanted us to have 3 different views on the story, [I made a comment about this earlier] the manga makes Ayanokoji out to be bland. He isn't as exciting to see anymore.
AND at the end of the novel Ayanokoji CONFESSES his love for Kei. I hated that shit. Honestly I don't even know why they needed to add romance to this. It would've been way better off without it.
Ayanokoji wanted to get away from his father, he wanted to be the best and knew he was more clever than all of them. He USED people as tools to get what he wanted and did it in a way were he couldn't get caught or if he did get caught, he'd have a back up plan to make sure he was completely off the hook.
He made people suspicious of him ON PURPOSE, he tricked people into thinking that they've got everything wrapped around THEIR finger, but really, Ayanokoji was the one in control.
SO- why add romance??
This was a thrilling story to begin with and the anime actually made me realize a genre that i absolutely loved.
The ending with Ayanokoji becoming soft and confessing to someone really made me think, "What the hell". I didn't come for romance, I came for the unique plot and character Ayanokoji was. I came for psychological thriller, not a school romance,
omg nooooo. why would the authors give it a highschool romance whyyyyyy. it was perfect the way it was with the "competition to be the best between highschoolers" kinda vibes. i just wanted my physiological thriller too. I can't see ayanokoji getting together with anyone myself. confessing his "love" especially. like maybe when the story itself is concluded at the most. like once they are out of school and going their own ways. but whyyyyy (/TДT)/
SPOILERS
Well, Ayanokoji blackmailed Kei after finding out her secret. He said he would protect her from the people who bullied her if she helped him in return.
They grew close.
Kei was the first person to remember and tell him "happy birthday"
and he did the same
They just kept working together and eventually opened up with one another.
And Ayanokoji asked her out and she said yes.
Suzune would've been a way too obvious outcome for the "psychological" tag. The main point of the story is to make you "not suspect" it would happen. Sakura was also one of the popular choices to be with Ayanokoji, but he already knew about Sakura, he could see through her. He liked Sakura more than Horikita as well. So Sakura and Horikita were never actually a choice, just a distraction until Kei came along.
Yes! I read it from multiple sites!

I totally understand why everyone is hating the news that Kei will eventually end up with Ayanokoji. However, that's only ATM.
In the coming storyline, you'll come to realize why Kei gets together with Ayanokoji. It's a growing progress, not in a span of a single volume or a few chapters, but volumes. There will also be a scene in volume 7 that'll making you really like Kei as the main girl. However, that's my subjective opinion. (However, to this day my favourite volume in this novel's story so far is volume 7.)
Also, to give a comparison on where we are on current manga's storyline to the novel, we're at the beginning of volume 4 of the light novels. They get together in volume 11.5 of the novel.
Now to explain something about the novel. The novel consists of volumes with a official volumes with a numbers and volumes with .5 appended onto it. Volumes with a .5 appended onto the volume number typically are intermission volumes that detail side-story like events between the main volumes. Kei and Ayanokoji gets together in one of these volumes, so this is why romance still technically seem like a huge plot player as of yet.
The latest novel is currently in second year. almost at the end of first semester. Although, they're together, I have yet to see any plot points related to romance as of yet. However, I can't say for sure for future volumes, so don't contradict me if you're some future person down the road.
Yeah, most of the readers are pretty pissed at this though. They turned such an amazing and unique story into a romance. And I can tell you for a FACT that NONE of us came for that. We were intrigued by Ayanokoji himself. We FELL IN LOVE with his way of thinking, how smart he was, how quick-witted, his personality, his past. We loved it. We wanted more of that, no a cliche highschool romance.
Firstly, I somewhat agree with the fact where most people didn't really expected romance coming into the story, however it's not like everyone is adverse with the idea of romance in the story, including myself. I mean look at all the Ichinose and Kei fans in the current fandom.
Secondly, again, where in the story did the whole story become a solely orientated around romance? Romance, from my perspective, still looks like a small aspect of the story or maybe a potential plot device.
Thirdly, Ayanokoji, as much as I love Ayanokoji's personality, I would very much like to see how he develops as a character throughout the story. After all, essentially all his life he was molded by the white room and his father. I want the chance to see where he grows as a person independently. In my opinion, watching someone always winning sometimes gets boring, so reading volume 11 was interesting despite the reason.
Fourthly, is Ayanokoji really in love with Kei(, or the Author simply bad at writing romance)? I'm going to explain why I said this point. I'll be writing some spoilers.
SPOILER ALERT:
Going back to how they get together. (Screw writing in paragraphs, I'm summarizing in point form.)
1. Ayanokoji anonymously sicks bullies at Kei.
2. Ayanokoji "saves" the day to get information out of Kei.
3. We find out Kei has been bullied all through middle school, hence the self-serving personality.
4. Proceeds to use Kei as a gopher between volumes.
5. Ayanokoji leaves some minor information Kei is helping "X", which is ofc Ayanokoji.
5. Ryuen and his gang proceeds to capture and "torture" information from Kei to find out the identity of X's identity.
6. Ayanokoji watches all this. Kei is revealed to that "X" was the one who caused all the misery in point 1, but despite all that she still does not reveal the identity of X.
7. Ayanokoji eventually reveals himself and rescues Kei.
8. Kei is still works with Ayanokoji despite everything.
9. Eventually, gets together.
Now I need ask where exactly did Ayanokoji fall in love with Kei? From an objective perspective, I see Kei as a girl who, has many problems,
1) does not revealing her perpetrator of her "bullying" despite any conditions (, an unhealthy habit she possibly retained from her bullied days),
2) suffers from Stockholm syndrome for Ayanokoji, and lastly,
3) appears to be the perfect tool for Ayanokoji.
Anyways, from my points and Ayanokoji's personality, I'm reluctantly saying... isn't Ayanokoji just using Kei, since she essentially has the best qualities of a tool.

Hopefully, we'll see Kei get some character development there...
If you are mad over Kiyo wanting a normal human relationship, then maybe you miss the entire premise of the series since volume 1. Kiyo entire desire is to experience normal life, that means making friends and having romantic relationship. Throughout the entire novel, you can read his desire sprinkled all over. However, his desire is always in conflict with his disposition. Wanting and actually accomplishing what you desire is not the same thing. Clearly, despite Kiyo's wish to be normal, he is anything but. He is well aware of this, that is why his monologue is full of contradiction.
There's gonna be a scene where Nanami has his own set of insecurities and problems. He'll (maybe) cry as he shouts that he understands the pain Takanashi is going through.
They're gonna talk out their problems, Nanami is going to give Takanashi a shoulder to cry and lean on. Nanami is then going to say something like, "I'll be here for you" or "You wont be lonely with me"
Takanashi (might) confront his mother about what he's been feeling and they'll talk out their situation.
Nanami will wait for Takanashi to be ready for him.
Nanami will most likely confess later on, and Takanashi will confess too.
I dunno, just a thought
Yep very typical. I’d like for Nanami not to have a problem of his own. I mean he just doesn’t seem like he has many problems you know. It would make Nanami even more likeable if he was straightforward and said “no, I can’t relate to your struggles in a lot of ways but I still think you should chose a path you’d be most satisfied in the future”.
Me reading this for the first time: Aww how cute! They obviously like each other
Me now: Aha! Ya got me in the first half :D
