Owh I guess this is the route the author was going for. Now MC is completely reliant on ML... but ML is always crazy possesive for MC anyway so I should have seen this coming tbh.
Also I think ML actually have a life as a member of society since, it's hinted that he have connection to the company higher up and probably still in touch with gangster. So he's keeping MC isolated but he himself have a life MC probably want. Depending on how many chapter left, this side story can end here or ML can help MC can have a semblance of a normal life back.
