So finally finishing this I think the emperor is a fucking liar. He says he was always going to give the throne to Raymond. He’s fucking lying even with the revelation that the reason why she had to be the emperor is because only she had the ability to fix magic is ultimately pointless because they don’t have magic to fix (at the point) which is one of the reasons why he was disappointed with his grandson.

Also, it’s really fucking insane to try and match make two people when one of them desperately doesn’t wanna be with the other one and then to hold something over the other person’s head to try and make it seem better. I know in the end they go over how the emperor was actually a bad person and was really selfish because his whole thoughts were only on maintaining the royal family, but I don’t think they went into him enough. He says he raised Raymond would love but we don’t see that. We see he raised his other grandchild with love but we don’t see him raising Raymond with love. However, we do see them being brotherly until a certain point. I genuinely believe that point comes when Raymond realizes that he is the unfavored child. Jealousy and envy can make you an ugly person and I think is demonstrated here. I understand why Serena turned on the crown prince however, your family being exiled permanently and you being sent to a convent to die can’t be better than just dying.

I would love to hear about literally anything else in the side story like what happened to the emperor what happened to Raymond? What happened to Serena? What happened to the second male lead because it’s been 10 years, but we don’t find out any of that which is kind of disappointing.

I do think for what it is the story is at least thought-provoking when you think about the main villain, however, I do wish he would’ve genuinely had his villainous breakdown when he was poisoning the male lead and really dive into his emotions of jealousy, resentment, and envy which I think could be solved by the second male lead, but I digress

So coming back to this and thinking objectively I am actually kind of mad. They changed the ending simply because Erica being the secret smarter twin would give her something while she currently has nothing. Laurencia currently has two things, Intelligence and love. Erica currently has nothing. In the original ending, L would end in love and somewhat intelligence because the spy not being the prodigy twin, she still genuinely smart, which would go to show that the grandfather was wrong to begin with. E would end up with her intelligence as her relationship is a nothing burger. Both of them would end up with something.

In the new ending, L has both of them. E has genuinely nothing and the grandfather despite being cruel was right. I don’t think the grandfather at any point should be proven right. Now she is off doing God knows what trying to help the alchemist however, how can she help the alchemist if she’s actually not as intelligent and what they need is intelligence. No point in time does the story prove that she’s just people smart not booksmart because she doesn’t interact with people and her main power comes from the fact that she aligned herself with people who took care of situations for her.

In the act of trying to make L look better, they weakened another character and I don’t see how they’re going to be able to build her back up and I think that’s bad writing. She’s not physically strong, she’s not intelligent in a noticeable way in regards to academics or understanding people, she is somewhat cunning however, she’s now a good guy so she’s not going to be able to display it, she is empathetic, but not overly so. One of her main character traits was her insecurity, but in healing her trauma somewhat and lessen that she has developed into a worse character, a character with nothing going on. She is a character dependent on men when originally she wasn’t. That is God awful writing, and unless they give her a fucking gun or something I don’t see how they’re gonna fix it.

Actually, completely forgot there’s magic in this world so I think the only thing they would be able to give her would be a magic. If she somehow became a magic user that would give her a unique enough identity while also having strength that doesn’t come from a man allowing her to stand on her own. Additionally, she could be taught alchemy from the alchemist after hoping them, which could be symbolic of how once she hurt them and now she is one of them, however it seems to be something you’re born into and a semi closed practice as well they don’t make it clear if it needs academic intelligence like other forms of alchemy so it’s a good B option.

Additionally, just so people are clear the reason why I don’t count Erica‘s relationship with the red hair guy as something valid is because only at chapter 80 which is the season two finale is their relationship at a point to barely start the beginning of something possibly real because before that, he was her warden. It didn’t matter if he genuinely cared for her because above all else, he would report on Erica‘s movements to her sister putting him in a position of power over her. I understand how him being in constant contact with her would make him protective over her, especially if she is known to hurt herself physically, and emotionally which he comes to do. However, she would not start having feelings for him because despite being a delusional person, she is not so delusional to develop Stockholm syndrome. Now that they’re more high than even playing ground and he has changed from her warden to her knight could something happen but I still don’t expect it to develop well as you can count their interactions before hand on a single hand so

I think the villains here were interesting however I think if they really wanted to show rugal having sex with someone they should have showed him fucking angel because it’s despite him saying he was in love with the main character. It really did feel like he was just projecting his feelings of angel onto the main character which really plays into the tragedy of his character, and how all of his failures are truly his fault.

The secondary villain, however I think is a bit more interesting due to the fact, he is the son of the primary villain, but like unloved by everyone except the detective. Despite having the very last scene of the series he doesn’t show up for like most of the second season, which is crazy. I think, especially if you’re going to play it where he gets a redemption plus I think it’s crazy for the main villain to have another confrontation with the main characters, but the secondary villain doesn’t have a confrontation with the secondary characters, especially if you wanna play into that contrast/similarity of both father and son kind of having an implied redemption, but like I think it could’ve been better honestly especially again if you’re playing into how the reason why they lost is because they were ultimately alone

I think this comic is fucking gold like the story by far is one of the best I have read in a long time because despite being very romantic let you know first and foremost it is a drama and shit is gonna get fucked up. I really love how casually diverse everyone is in terms of body types and sexuality like woah.

Main couple: I think Victor and Yohan are so fucking adorable like at least top 10 main couples in general like Yohan is really great, but I think the downside is that because he’s obviously connected to like the whole thing with his brother which seems like it’s gonna come up in season three we didn’t really get a lot of moments of him that mostly focused on his character, which I’m fine at due to the fact that he is the main character. Season two was specifically more about Victor which I’m really not mad at especially because I feel like he needs the most explanation and time with. I really hope season three shows more of Yohan because relatively he is the least complicated, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing.

Second couple: Ian and Van are damn near perfect mostly. I like how they were more focused than I thought they would be. I think it would be nice to see Van initially fall in love because as soon as he saw him, he’s just started moving right away, which is relatively crazy but is common for a second couples but I was more surprised with Ian due to the fact that he’s actually more important to the plot than one might assume and how that’s going to come to hide in season three and I kinda love that for him because other than that he would’ve just been the guy who Van randomly fell in love with one day and I’m actually excited to see how season three is going to go with Ian being more important because it’ll be kind of like a catalyst for relationship.

Third couple: Theon and Eden I actually really live for. Like I absolutely need to see more of them especially because Theon’s character and motivations because I really like how even though he’s very much an antagonist no one acts like they can’t see where he’s coming from because it makes sense that he wants to kill the person who killed his father and I love how Eden is there to back him up even if it comes at a detriment to him at some point in time. I hope we also explore Eden a bit more but as he’s the least important part of the third couple, I understand if we don’t.

Additionally, I think all the other background characters like Hozer and victor’s family and such I really well done like I think all of them are interesting in their own way even Jin who would’ve been a really good love story if he wasn’t so fucking crazy

So I know they want us to hate this little brown boy, but I will never be able to hate the character. Who literally has their homeland destroyed and is starving especially when it’s coming from a noble character like who are you to look down on him?!? Also Oleg my baby I need to save you because even though he’s getting praised by the people, he knows that his father really doesn’t care about him which is worse than anything. He knows that his cousin really doesn’t care about him and he knows that his grandfather don’t give a shit about him at all like who does he really have? Like someone please save these boys.

I think it’s extremely interesting that despite having the main character be the center of the world essentially that society is still very misogynistic and where after doing something like this, the new villainous can only hope to become a second wife of a Noble man, which is essentially the same as an in-house prostitute like no wonder she crashes the fuck out like I too would lose my mind and try to murder somebody because at least I won’t be disrespected in life, even if my death is disrespectful in nature. Like I agree that she should be punished. However, the punishment for women is always so much worse than punishment for men like she’s going to go to an nunnery and then forced to have sex with a guy like

I love stories like this in concept where the villain from the first half becomes the protagonist on the second half and we get to understand why they did what they did while having them seek a happy end however this is only enjoyable when there is a fall before the rise. If the villain doesn’t get proper consequences, they can’t get a redemption and if they don’t get either then why do we fucking care?

I’m so conflicted honestly because he’s genuinely one of my favorite characters in this entire story because he’s definitely one of the most tragic and I feel like death would complete his story perfectly however I don’t want him to die. Like the fact that his family had to die is so unfair. His whole story is so unfair the fact that he had to make all these sacrifices because of his bum uncle. The fact that even if his father wasn’t the way he was, he would’ve still died young because of the curse. Yona makes a good case for the chosen one aka Harry Potter, he makes a good case for not unchosen one aka Katniss like please someone save him because while I like the relationship, those three share it’s very clear that while he’s important to them, he’s only playing second fiddle and I feel like after everything he went through he deserves to feel like he’s number one to someone even if it’s temporarily because I feel like they’re still gonna kill him off
