I think the fact that people don’t even know who this man is off the top of their head, and they have been reading this, since the very beginning proves that the author has failed in anything having to do with Woojin. Like you tell people with the red haired guy, and they still don’t know who that is because he’s so unimportant he’s literally been in three chapters in the entire series and one of them was in the side story. And the times he appeared, Woojin tells him he’s not as important to him as his best friend which would be nice if his best friend didn’t instantly drop him the minute he got his dick wet. But now we’re supposed to believe if he’s been in love with him the entire time? Maybe he’s just really cold to the people he’s in love with? I can totally see that for him but that’s a lot of cope and I feel like it’s me trying to justify bad writing
Honest to God, I thought they were going to put him with the ex but if they were going to do something like that, that’s more fitting for a second season, not the side story but it would’ve been cute as both of them work through with the issues they had with their ex/friend and growing closer as result like it’s cute I’m sorry
I hope these characters get together because they’re actually so much more interesting than they appear and deserve happiness as well as becoming more than just a character in someone else’s story (Tsugumi and Megumi respectively) they each bring up a point that isn’t seen very often and these type of stories, which is the hatred of one second gender, but for a different reasons. Subaru hates his second gender because it’s forever means he’s an outsider to the world of omegas and Alphas. He will never fall in love with someone at first sight because of a scent and the fact that the person he’s been in love with for years fell in love with an omega over something like that was just a knife that twisted in his back. The worst part is in this world. It would be better to be one or the other, because no one really cares about betas. People have stronger feelings about Alpha or omega, but no one has strong feelings about Betas. They are, like him, just there. Inami hates his second gender for the stereotypes, and the pressure that comes with being an alpha. While I like his plot I just like Subaru’s so much more because his relationship with his respective main character is much deeper than Inami’s especially because you can see how their friendship is fraying. I definitely feel like they’re going to end up as friends who don’t really talk to each other as both of them slowly let go
So I know antagonists have to exist and not everyone can be redeemed, however I think he’s too good looking to throw away like arguably top three for me. Mind you I skimmed this so I don’t know everything he did only stalking and being aggressive during sex and cheating but everyone has flaws that therapy can fix
I always felt so bad for the brother because he never gets his parents love or respect back after giving up everything for his family. He loses all his friends and the person he ends up marrying is only with him due to his sister like he really should have escaped his family they don’t love or care about him.
Wait who are you talking about?
Is it Bern? I'm assuming U read the novel (which I didn't)
While he probably did loose his friends from the academy (second prince, his love, Van), they were not really true friends as they only cared about his status or were just with him because of that spy girl
For him to not be getting the love from his parents: I don't think he ever lost it, as they haven't disinherited him (as they would have, if it weren't for them to be family as per the mother's words) but they were certainly (and justly) disappointed
Or are you talking about the second prince or someone else?
Yes I’m talking about Bern and I have read the novel. It’s true that they were his real friends but they were the closest he will ever have throughout the book. No one will ever be close to him in a way like that again which I find sad. And he actually will never back to the same level of love. I think it’s a quote or a fun fact or something but it said that they will always favor his sister way more than him so he’s friendless and has a bad/not the best relationship with his parents and a ok/ehh relationship with his sister. It’s one thing to be disappointed but it’s another thing to hold that over someone for the rest of their life. He was only able to be manipulated in the first place because his parents weren’t the best to him to begin with. Then there is his relationship which is extremely base level like there is no chemistry between the two.
Ehh that took a dark turn...
It seems that it's a bit differently portrayed in the manga (even if it's miniscule; for example the parents weren't shown to be overly resentful and at least to me his friend group was only held together by their shared love for the not-protagonist-girl, so I'm still hesitant to call them true friends when that friendship was not strong enough for lasting through that)
I hope it (the manga) explodes a new side to it
(Or at least not leaving his fate to be nothing but a sad "fun fact")
Thank you for sharing Ur knowledge on the novel (⌒▽⌒)
Of course! I have hope I guess that it’s portrayed better here but so far it’s not going good as the parents really don’t seem to care when he is alone like when his mother over hears him end his friendship with the protagonist girl and his father has no problems with using him for political reasons but won’t use the daughter for the same reasons. It also does help that he has no friends in the estate itself unlike his sister. It’s just so sad
I’m so glad so many people are starting to see the light about him. We are. He isn’t a bad person. He just goes about what he wants in a very bad way. Because he ultimately wants the same exact thing that the ML wants which is to protect his loved ones but Oushi wants to keep them in a place where he can protect them forever them while ML wants to do it in a different way. I will be sad if he ends the series single I will be pissed simply because of the genre and this is one of those genres where nobody ends up single so if he does, I will be mad, but his love interest would’ve been introduced already.
That’s honestly fair I don’t know which one would be better narratively because if she was important to his story, you think she would be more relevant But to just introduce someone at the very end also isn’t very satisfying so it’s ehh either way but I still would prefer it to him being alone because I think it sends a worse message because he’s a good friend he just hasn’t been a good friend to her which is the problem.
I actually like how this was handled bc he was like I still love you but if you can’t respect that fact that I’m gay I’m out and then distanced himself from his father to give them both time like omg underneath all the big titties and wall to floor to ceiling gay sex there is a heart that you often forget in this story
Theodore was 100% in the right in his plan especially because Arnold was such a god awful brother. Like he just wants to do anything he can for his brother and his brother is both neglecting him and being rude to him and acting like he is at leech. So it makes sense that’s a natural progression of that is suicide. And so he tries to do that. His brother stops him, then slaps him. Tells him to value his life because apparently Arnold values his brother life and then when he starts crying and apologizing, he tells him to calm down and then leave him there. Like he’s still not a good brother I feel like I’m being gaslit. And then Theodore disappears into the background cast like what the hell!?!? Was he literally just used as background fodder for Arnold’s development. To show what that Arnold is a good big brother when in fact he is not. Like I actually really enjoy this however, this is the one part that just is yikes like you can show him being a good person, but this does not help
There’s not enough content in the manga but I just finished watching the anime. Arnold is a strange character too, feels like he has a deep hatred towards his fathers empire and that makes him two faced. There’s a specific scene with Rishe that better explains why Arnold sucks, just apply that to this moment and it makes more sense in my opinion.
Spoiler next
Arnold is not in love with Rishe, (yet) but she is no doubt his favourite person. He admires her and wants to respect her, and wants her to do whatever she pleases. The spoiler is this- when she asked him to put the ring (his gift) on her ring finger he said no.
he doesn’t expect her to choose him, he didn’t want/expect to be important to her, he basically tells her to treat him as part of the background.
The purveying theme of this particular series I think is self-worth. The brother wanted to be acknowledged, the alchemist believed himself to be evil, and Arnold….we’ll it’s not super clear yet, but All of them are foils to Rishe’s ability to see possibilities, or something along those lines lol
and the way they just swept under the rug that little bit about his sisters??? where are they and what happened to them? honestly the entire thing made absolutely no sense. the whole situation was supposed to do something for the ML but it rly just showed that his brother is in the right lol.
i guess we can't expect much from the guy who starts like a continental war for some (still!!!) inexplicable reason lmao. it still rly bothers me tho, like what exactly was the point ML makes zero sense.
Theodore's situation was indeed understandable. I mean, yeah, Arnold wasn't really a 'good brother' but I don't think that's supposed to be the point. Point is that Arnold is a good person who doesn't really want to hurt anyone. He wanted his brother to distance himself from him because (as implied) he hates himself and his father, the very people who'd bring destruction. Unfortunately for him, Theodore sensed that Arnold was ruining himself, hence why he didn't act as was expected from him.
