Actually wasn't Marie Antoinette greatly misunderstood historically? She never actually said that famous cake line and many rumors were made to discredit her before her execution. Rather she was an intelligent woman who tried to show sympathy to the lower class, deeply cared for her family, and was a strong person who involved herself in politics in place of her "weaker" husband (one reason for her demise). She was hated for her husband's exclusivity to her (lacking a mistress who is usually blamed by the populace for any faults so the blame fell on her), her private house which snubbed the French nobility who weren't invited, and for simply being a foreigner. Many rumors and scandals led to her demise as she became a figure that was easy to direct hate on. Truthfully, she was a dignified woman whose last words were “Pardon me, sir, I did not do it on purpose.” after accidentally stepping on the foot of her executioner, the same one that beheaded her husband.
Historical fiction is rather hard to tackle especially because there isn't one factor for the French Revolution and it most definitely was not due to Marie Antoinette alone. How do you solve national bankruptcy? Severe winters, droughts, poor harvest, and famine? The Parlement's opposition to reforms? The rise of the bourgeoisie who wished for political equity with the nobility and the church? The rise of Enlightment ideas which questioned those in power? The extravagent lifestyle the French monarchy are accustomed to? There were political factors, economic ones, and social reasons. I can't begin to imagine how one person would address all these issues even if it is our MC. Rather, the MC holds many traits the actual Marie Antoinette did as well so I do hope this isn't a tragedy.

I’m so glad the author brought awareness to men rape and sexual assault, most people don’t take it seriously because it’s men but it shouldn’t be any different and It hurt so much when he was explaining the situation to her because he put the blame on himself and kept on apologizing saying it wasent a big deal I was sobbing so much it was so sad. also I hate the lady who did that too him glad she died

I read the novel and i didn't have any problem with the scene where the king rejected and slapped the queen's hand, i mean the spoilers already told me about his trauma and all
But apparently seeing it in pictures angered me, seeing how shocked her face is and the people around her, seeing how red her hand visually, it gives different impact because the novel doesn't give that much details
i understand where the king came from, but it still pisses me off, he should apologize, it doesn't matter if he just mutter or whisper an apologize without looking at her in the eyes and leave, at least try to show a small apologize instead immediately left and constantly avoided her like that
I know the situation will get better and they'll have heartfelt conversation, he will also apologize, but it happens because of blanche, if blanche never talks to the king, the king will remains inconsiderate, and i seriously find that irritating
He's a full grown adult and he still needs a little girl to point out what he did wrong, ugh..
YES he has trauma, his past was awful, but that doesn't give him the right to embarrass the queen in public like that! I don't have any problem with how he got pale and slapped the queen, i also understand the part where he yelled at her, but when he saw the queen stunned, he should let out a tiny small apologize, even though the apologize is improper but at least he try, it angers me that he didn't try at all before blanche scolded him

When the blond ass looked at her if I was her I’d be like I SEE NO EVIL I HEAR NO EVIL LOOK AWAY I DONT KNOW YOUU. When he he confessed to her in Spanish I would be like NO HABLO ESPAÑOL.
