It is kinda "illegal" LOL! At least in my country. Most of cinemas in here, they checked your bag first, if they ever find you bring food or water bottle from outside, you have to put it in some storage(?)(the employee bought it with them before you entering the theater door) and it's common to all cinemas to have a infrared camera so yeah... They probably can see you even if it's dark. But consider yourself lucky if they don't check your bag or belongings, then u can bring food from outside
