I think the mangaka just wanted to verbalise a feeling of disjunction with society
There is a reason we do not relate to the seme (plus he was an ass about it so heh ain't no way we're gonna try hard for him)
The thinking that we all want to be productive is weird? Why would we want to do things all the time? Is it really true that we derive meaning from the things we do? Etc I think this idea is a REALLY good thing to tackle because well... With how mindless most of our actions are we may desire something deeper and it's just never been verbalised? (Like sure, I derive meaning from drawing but maybe I just want to have my imagination be more tangible? And with technology there is definitely a future where even that can be realised)
However... The author didn't choose a wholesome way to look at this question nor did they try to truly answer it, instead they opted for the meta discussion of should society accept people who do not derive a self from any productivity
And their answer is obviously yes. That's why the uke is there. But they're also aware that they live in a society and the majority rules at least most of the time and they choose to present their opinion through the realistic present pejorative view of society on this person who doesn't derive a sense of self from productivity
Yes the story is in the seme's pov but all the scenes never bother to actually explain him, they're literary re-enforcing what society thinks of how these people think
I found it interesting in that regard but everything else trash. Absolute trash.
