Somehow I'm glad it's been a while since the last update.
Because I don't think I'd have accepted the uwu vibes of the 4th chapter given the shit going down the previous chapters, it's like a whiplash of moods
I mean I've always stipulated that the author was on mirai's side no matter what but the fact that he didn't lose anything so far pisses me off. But at least Hotaru gets to have a good looking bitch in his house
Bruuuuh talk about glorified rape damn... Can I ask someone to write me all the spoilers when/if they know them because I don't know how much longer will I be following up with this
i think this is a story about two opposites who use violent sex to satisfy themselves, at the same time there is a struggle in terms of morality and life views, and the two of them are trying to reconcile everything to cooperate for mutual benefit, as for Rape, i will not defend Hayden's actions, he really raped Brett (many people ignore it because Brett planned it in advance but it still doesn't change the fact), luckily for Hayden, Brett likes it. i think Hayden wouldn't rape anyone out of lust or revenge for his friends, if you pay close attention, Hayden himself had targeted Brett before the incident with Scott happened (in chapter 2 he masturbated while thinking about Brett even though he had previously admitted that he hated Brett), Scott's incident was just an excuse to push Hayden to Brett. Their relationship started out toxic but now it's getting better because as Brett agreed with Hayden, their cooperation is to maintain a normal life, help each other improve although currently I personally see Brett being more proactive and putting in more effort than Hayden, Hayden is still conflicted and trying to create distance with Brett but Hayden seems to have feelings first? so their relationship is starting to develop in a more romantic direction...
i don't know if their start would have been better if hayden hadn't raped brett. yes hayden hates brett's attitude but their "attraction" is mutual, maybe the story would have been built differently if hayden had just suppressed his pheromones on brett (like how he threatened nathan), and left as a warning. but it seems to brett that hayden raping him doesn't matter because he likes it anyway. the story could have been better but i'm fine with their relationship right now
Actually the rape was just a stepping stone for the relationship between these two to begin, i won't be too harsh because it started out as a 6 chapter short story, but yes it could have been handled better. because Hayden’s actions made me question his morality a lot. All the readers i know all said that hayden couldn't control himself because of the rut cycle, he was actually very gentle and kind. That true with ch.19, he acted like a mindless animal but not with ch.3,4, he was still sane enough to both mock Brett and rape Brett, and if Brett didn't secretly like what Hayden did, imagine how horrible were hayden's actions? back to my point, did Hayden really show that he loved or simply respected Brett as a person with such a start? because if it were me, even though I enjoyed having sex with him, I would not put absolute trust in someone who dared to rape me even if I provoked him. Of course, it is possible that the author also ignored Hayden’s moral inconsistency and blamed everything on Brett. It’s seems easy to see Hayden as the victim, and blame all the evil on Brett…
I think the mangaka just wanted to verbalise a feeling of disjunction with society
There is a reason we do not relate to the seme (plus he was an ass about it so heh ain't no way we're gonna try hard for him)
The thinking that we all want to be productive is weird? Why would we want to do things all the time? Is it really true that we derive meaning from the things we do? Etc I think this idea is a REALLY good thing to tackle because well... With how mindless most of our actions are we may desire something deeper and it's just never been verbalised? (Like sure, I derive meaning from drawing but maybe I just want to have my imagination be more tangible? And with technology there is definitely a future where even that can be realised)
However... The author didn't choose a wholesome way to look at this question nor did they try to truly answer it, instead they opted for the meta discussion of should society accept people who do not derive a self from any productivity
And their answer is obviously yes. That's why the uke is there. But they're also aware that they live in a society and the majority rules at least most of the time and they choose to present their opinion through the realistic present pejorative view of society on this person who doesn't derive a sense of self from productivity
Yes the story is in the seme's pov but all the scenes never bother to actually explain him, they're literary re-enforcing what society thinks of how these people think
I found it interesting in that regard but everything else trash. Absolute trash.
He was very clean with it, went when there wasn't a lot of people, reacted calmly and considered the situation for what it was allowing his partner to speak at any given time yet establishing his boundaries
Very demure, very mindful
