Yeah I think he had feelings from the beginning, but I don’t think he fully realized it. And besides he thought he was going out with the senpai so he kinda gave up too. And there was no romantics progress between Kouhei and Tomoya so naturally he remained sexually straight and got married. He said it himself it was only after they reunited, he finally understood his feelings. I think platonic love and romantic love are commonly confused in childhood friendship. Like you like your best friend so much but not in a romantic way, that might be what Kouhei thought he had
