Yes it does. Around a year after Kumoko first hatches. It's actually one of the reincarnators. The student, a girl, turns into a Earth Wyrm with petrification resistance thanks to Kumko using her as a shield.

Sort of. Kumoko will have a better relationship with other reincarnators though
