I don't understand why the author would write karas to be like this. There are certain things that a redemption arc can't overlook, mudering children and innocents without remorse is one of them. It's like the 'bad boy and good girl/boy' trope amped up to unforgiveable levels i don't get it.

He's a fallen prince sent to war to die and has been treated as a monster (+ actually having some sort of supernatural powers, so he literally see humans as less than himself) by everyone but a man that was murdered in front of his eyes. Just the attitude he has in childhood explains enough of his present mindset, maximized (and encouraged, see how all his compatriots don't mind him erradicating the family) by the extremely violent conditions of war. If the author didn't present him as ruthless as this, it would be too fairytail and MC would feel less important to the plot.

You do understand they are in war. And the chances of the child coming back to take revenge can't be taken lightly or other people plotting with the children in mind. Most of the revenge plot story you read is because the kid or relative survived. I am not saying it's not cruel but that's how things are.

Karas is closest to a dragon in nature. And in this story dragons don't have empathy.. I read the novel and imo Karas never gets a proper redemption arc tbh
Because he doesn't change significantly
He can only be persuaded to doing good deeds if Abel gives him something in return (Karas is a horndog)

I find it funny how you guys are justifying it with weird excuses. He was already going to be a bloodthirsty person we saw it feom his childhood but either way. Did you think comparing it to real life would make me feel bad or something, i am not a person who believes that war, war crimes, and violence is justified.
The atrocities that governments and the military commit are not okay and there is no situation where it is okay. But this is not a history book, it's literally a romance novel, the revenge plot isn't even the main plot, so there's no reason for it to be ruthless.

hello?? "no reason"?? girl the story so far has been ruthless towards every character present in this universe ever (exaggerated ofc) i don't agree with some of the comments comparing it to real time situations but man have you not considered that maybe this character, who was raised in a fucked family, would turn out to be an extremely fucked individual? is it that confusing??
i agree w the fact that there is no redemption arc that can fix his unjust killings tho. but what can you do when he's just pixels behind a screen.

Lol its just a story. No one is saying that it's okay. But if the history books have recorded worse than what Karas had done, then most likely even more terrible things did and will continue to happen. Personally, I would rather something gruesome and convoluted get written out in grand details and churn moral discussions like this than have it happen in real life. Since you felt the disgust behind his actions, I would say the author did good to this world by writing it.

Wut? Do you want it to be all fairytales and shiz? This is literally the plot. What the author wants, with meaning behind them that is significant to how the characters interact with each other. It IS a romance novel, however a genre focusing on romance doesn't really mean it should ALL be about main characters getting lovey dovey with each other every freaking chapter. It shows how they met, what their circumstances are, and at what point did they began to feel love for each other. War? Violence? Ruthless? Lol mind the setting first before saying it has no reason for it to be ruthless. Tehy are in the middle of a power struggle, it's bound to get violent. Don't like it, skip it.
So many questions that better get answered. Idk what's going on guys he's freaking me out and the dad and secretary are so cryptic
