recall the chapter beom and theo officially meet. theo introduces himself as "hyeonji's boyfriend" :(( or in chap 12 where beom cries himself to sleep(?) after remembering ho saying he didn't want him to feel like he was alone, after defending him from those guys who wanted to pursue the urbanization of the village and called him a "pushover" like his mom. this such a tragic story for a bl i can't even. tho im not very surprised this author is known for great plots
(1/2) i don't think this kind of thing is talked about alot, especially with critically ill patients. my grandpa went into a stroke and became bedridden for nearly a decade until he peacefully passed. my grandma had, for a number of times, expressed her frustration with the situation years before, but she was still the one who broke down the most that day when she realized he had no will to drink or eat anymore. she still includes him in our prayers and kind of "talks to him" when things happen, like when my cousins graduate or accomplish things.
i get that theo expected either he still died after the surgery or went into a vegetative state. either way, he was in no place to make the choices for her. she never got a chance to "struggle with him". so what if she ended up resenting him? or regretting ever leaving her village to take care of him? she would've still done it because she wanted to and it would've still meant she loved him enough to throw everything behind. and that love is what would've mattered in the end.
although i do disagree with people saying hyeonji felt unloved the whole time he was gone. i think in her subconscious she knew something happened that he couldn't tell her. she was "rich" while haebeom was growing up right? idk if it was mentioned but couldn't theo had left money behind for her? that itself would've been a silent message. and if that isn't clue enough, i feel it was in her nature to think kindly and optimistically. she fs resented him for leaving, but silently understood.
also, i hope people stop thinking there's any "sides" to take in this situation. there's no "justifying" his actions. it's a decision he very obviously thought hard about. he didn't think it was the best but he also didn't think there was any better option either. i also kind of commend his bravery or returning to the village despite all the pain he had to go through, and all the pain he imagines hyeonji had to go through. but the main thing is, hyeonji is dead and over 30+ years have passed. theo's main focus is to say goodbye to her one last time. he doesn't seek to create a relationship with haebeom because he's aware of the gravity of his past actions. it's better to leave it at that and wish they both (theo and haebeom) get to live lives happily with closure.
chase is literally a puppy lmao and he very obviously has never dated before so he's overthinking and overreacting to everything involving josh even though he hasn't confessed and they aren't in an actual relationship i'm living for it and i hope it ends in a cute way where he embarrasses himself and then they start dating
petios and laurea's official engagement ceremony was when laurea was only 13 years old. the engagement lasted for over 20 years (im assuming theyve been considered engaged since before the ceremony). danel and petios have an 8-year age gap. so how old r these ppl really??
he was cute at first but now hes hella annoying af. i can barely brush past his bullshit questions, but in terms of a "third party" ig the guy isnt much of a threat. but that bitch is just plain desperate. imagine not having anything else to do but constantly make trouble and butt into the life of a guy you manipulated in the past. fucking pathetic
idk if its just me but theres a bit more playfulness(?) in the early chapters of the old translations. like athy calling claude daddy, and speaking in 3rd person
claude: does felix carry you every time?
old trans (athy): when i come to see daddy?
new trans (athy): you mean when i come to see you, dad?
thanks for reminding me to reread this lmaoo i skim through the story atleast once a month at this point
well fck now we know at some point in the future taeha and haesoo will have a falling out and jay will regret not convincing taeha to not fully give his heart to her (as hes genuinely begun to care for him maybe like an older brother) fcking hell
btch do not tell me his brother returns and takes over the company so kohaku doesnt have to move out of the country and he gets back with yoi all that angst just for that. honestly might as well do a time skip or something lmaoo
u can clearly see that after the stalking arc author-nim doesn't know how to progress the story like- it's all over the place. the same love-square trope, and the main couple hasn't even fully established let alone addressed their situation. mc's ex is gone, what's more to keep their fake relationship together?
im curious if in the novel chase notices josh's c-section scar?
psycho was heavily condescending to chanwoo and manipulated him at his lowest emotional state so hed feel dependent of her. she's a sociopath; she doesnt care about people's feelings as long as she feels she's treated superiorly. her outright talking abt her relationship with chanwoo to mc was a power play to make her insecure, the same way she talked to chanwoo while mc overheard; it's snakey. she just missed having someone at the beck of her call and didnt give af about chanwoo
so yeah im not reading any of this until the flashback is over :p
Venomous = Euihyun
Have No Brains = Taeju
idk y theyre surprised
ok so most likely he knows shes in disguise AND hes also in diguise cause hes the blonde kid she saved. so hes the ML
fsr the black nailpolish just seals mo's entire aesthetic after getting close with tian and im living for it
in another fan translation, jian yi says "i do" at the end
let be fr. itd be undeniable simple to hate minseo if he was ugly with a pot belly. like- readers wouldnt even bat an eye
she very clearly is a narcissist who enjoyed toying with chanwoo when he was younger, and consequently enjoyed toying with mc. she gets off feeling superior and stepping on people. her saving mc is nothing amazing now. just goes to show you just cant judge a person by the one good thing they did.
also, this trope of an antagonist constantly being a woman is mysoginistic af. heck- mc's ex (A MAN) wasnt even made to look awful. he kept following her around, driving her home, then the sht he made that crazy girl do was in the shadows. we never got to see him being the psycho he was. the author didnt bother to show it. in the end, he just disappears from the story. crazy girl on the other hand had so many appearances and was made to look like such an awful person, then became the scape goat.
now it looks like this is a whole new arc to the plot and narcisissy is the center of it.
author fcking do better
