In a holistic approach, labels aren’t essential for survival, but they fulfill a deep-seated human need for understanding, categorization, and connection. They help us make sense of the world and ourselves, but they also have a darker side often being used to marginalize, control, or reinforce societal norms. Can't have the good without the bad.
