Hahahah, true, I admit defeat. But that would also mean that the editors and/or assistants and whoever else checked the storyboards and dialogues thought this was a good idea, too. And I think I've read something else from this mangaka and it wasn't that dumb, hence my disappointment.

I might have an unpopular opinion here, but I pity both of them. I haven't been in an abusive relationship, but I've experienced something similar. I think it's a real torture seeing someone you trusted and loved change like that. It makes you think of what you yourself did wrong to make them take that path.
I don't believe that people have the ability to choose how to act necessarily, but I do think that people need to get what they deserve and don't have to put up with something less. Just because Kan or w.e isn't a bad person doesn't mean Yumi should stick around, people are hard to change by yourself and if it's unhealthy for you, you need to cut off the relationship. Most people think they are at fault too, and there's also the fact that you keep on remembering the past or the sometimes nice attitude they get.
