it's because Claude is notorious for being a cold-blooded stone face emperor so everyone is shocked to hear such sweet words for his daughter lmao but Claude is also the honest type so he was just saying what was on his mind, not feeling embarrassed at all, while Athy is embarrassed for him because everyone else is watching and heard him too.

this is a lovely, heartbreaking, and honestly amazingly written out story. but, i probably will stop here. don't get me wrong, i absolutely love this and have read the novel, so i just cannot put myself through that experience again. i cried for like so long, so i think in this quarantine i shouldn't make myself even MORE sad. i'll be back!!
