You don’t blame a snake for being poisonous, but that doesn’t mean you sit still and let it bite you. Maybe she is innocent and doesn’t know what she does, but her existence is poisonous. Athy doesn’t have to love her. Athy doesn’t have to consider her as family, and she doesn’t even have to be friends with her. It’s smarter to draw a line than to just let her kill everyone.
I kinda want the queen to stay in the south with her people at least until Louis grows up. Her and her son would be able to live a happier life there
Unfortunately that would probably hurt him politically in the long run. He’s already going to be at odds with the court due to his lineage, but if he grew up in another country it would probably cause huge issues when he came back to take the throne. He needs to stay where he is to learn the environment, build relations and be familiar to the people.
