It's more complicated than that. Almost all of the characters has their own issues. Shang family foundation is pretty shaky with the mother as their glue (and the mother has her own mental problem). Just continue to read and enjoy the story :)

Trust me when I say, the girl's problems with her new adopted family are only 2% of the overall plot in this story... Soon enough, they fade to nothing, only to make way for new, and completely different, non-family-related, BIGGER problems... There's a lot going on behind the scenes, you just have to keep on reading to find out.

No writer, pub, com, would put out a manga that looked, contained, encouraged racism. why?It would not sell . If you read the story, Q (the tribes man) was accepted by his peers,(at the Uni.) encountered no discrim. based on his app.(including the markings on his face) In a country where tatts. are looked down on Q was treated well. He was was not drawn as a hulking fool. He was portrayed as smart handsome and quick to learn. Q was shown as darker in skin tone, could it be bec . he was living all his life under sun w/o a lot of clothes ,his skin will be darker.notice he is pink on the cover. MASKS. Jpn. is a Shinto based country. 3000 years of history they have used and use masks as part of rituals performed at the temples in RL. and at Religious festivals. The writer stole, took nothing from any other cul. did not have to. the writer had the right to use any element of the story he/she wanted to. You speak of Colonialism of the President in this manga I did not pick up on that at all. but I did pick up on the idea of telling a Jpn. cul. how to rewrite their manga (from a western view point). In our hyper pc environ. Where a word, or clothes, songs are deemed offensive for some reason or fashion. Calling things racist has taken on a faddish nature. It's the thing to do, it looks like it. with out even knowing what those words mean. I asked you why you where spamming this manga. you replied would I say the same thing if it was a bunch of fangirls? To equate the 2 tells me everything I need to know. this is how you fangirl?

Also, it's not that they don't put out racist mangas, it's a lot of readers that doesn't question what is given to them that allows for these mangas to proliferate. And when someone finds it as nice and rosy as you? Gang up without evidence or proof and stifle any criticism of yaoi wonderland. And we aren't just isolating a word or two. It's the composition of the entire book that is critically analysed. And when will debaters finally realize that this isn't about ignorance of skin colour but about the ignorant representation of tribal culture. It's modern civilization vs other alternative forms of human history and culture. A fish out of water story with modernity having the upper hand is created. And if the author really was using their own culture (which is a point you pulled out of your ass), then they suck at representing it too. Where in the world does it make a connection? All I saw was comic relief and then the masks disappears, forgotten. Yes, authors can write works, we can love them, they can introduce new themes which is great but that doesn't mean they can just bullshit and expect no consequences whatsoever. They are going to take in the comments that will follow for they tread this path and what good is an artist if all readers have to bow down and shut up? Authors write works, works start interesting discussions, we comment in these discussions and get our minds aware about how we read yaoi, we hold more control over how we use yaoi, transition from passive babies to active yaoi minds, everyone live happily ever after. Why would you ever want to control what people want to discuss? Maybe calling things racist isn't a fad. Maybe because it is. Maybe hating on any conflicting opinion by just denying everything is a trend nowadays. Maybe it's time you leave your protected yaoi land and bite your own reality when things get inconvenient. Because at this rate it's more like we are explaining to the spamming deniers instead of pointing the manga's flaws (which was like... Done Ages ago) so next time u ask why we spamming... Q could have been a farmer from Quam, going to agricultual school or a Monk attending a Relig. school. It was their diff. and how they over came diff. that is the point of the story. would you still call it racist then?I see no upshot in racist manga from Jpn. none.

If that's your opinion then that's your opinion. I on the other hand think otherwise. You stating how interchangeable Q's background is makes my point stronger he could have just been a shirtless hippie. That's the amount of effort put into displaying what it generally means to be a tribe. Though tribe theme should be seriously entrenched into the story like in otoyomegatari or wild rock, or basically a tribal or racially themed manga, the shallow premise here first hold because of how little the attention is given to developing it. And that is what makes me feel that the author, due to lack of awareness, kinda generalized that tribes in general have nothing of value to be represented apart from the occasional masks; without any unique tribal meaning; filling in as a comedic device. Also the ever present trope that there will always be this stubborn tribal character who says smthg 'wrong' and the modern person swoops in and slaps sense into them and the modern man gains respect. A similar trope in jet Li vs native Americans and more. Thou it's subtle here, it's still needs to be noticed. And the colonial attempts of contacting tribes? Let me just say.... The colonials goes to the tribe, takes a person or two back to their country without their original country's notice, teaches and treats they people they brought so that when the brainwashed tribesmen go back, they will tell them tribe how good the colonials are as agree to be colonised and be brought up like them. Which had disastrous results down history as most lose their independents ways of life, get dependent on state funds, get wiped out and all that shiet today (also colonials are usually part of a tea company so.... Not exactly part of their home government but are really rich and powerful) although the manga did not end badly, the first few actions are pretty similar to how then professor deliberately went to meet the tribe and "pulled somet strings" to get Qalt to Japan. And the artist probably wasn't intentional about this and probably didn't know any better. But its still an important point to note. Basically yea, I still think there are points worth noting and deem it overall... Just somewhat ignorant and ill prepared. I'm just stating what I think and im not forcing u to believe it. You can use this info however u like and decide with your adult mind. Solid supported arguments are welcomed.
