Uh, no. The author never tried to redeem her actions as a mother, just tried to explain her side of the story too. Simply put, she abandoned him to prostitution as a child. What you get in the main story is some kind of closure between Momo and his mom.
His mom was a rape victim, got the blame in return and when she basically got "back stabbed" by Momo, she was furious.
Blinded by her hate and rage for Momo she left him to suffer for his actions of seducing her men and that happened.
Either way both of them have to shoulder some of the blame.

Yep. totally agree with you. The part where they were separated was too long compared with the rest, it left me unsatisfied. If only we could have seen more of their happy moments... But it was such a sudden heartbreak when Akira left Yuuki just like that. It was resolved too quickly, and then the end. Even if it was a "happy" ending the feeling was bittersweet
