The way the villains are being portrayed in this manhwa is disappointing. I’m on chapter 32, and while I am aware that stalkers exist, I don’t understand why author decided to go with a club dress for her outfit (with a bareback) what is the theme for that choice? It doesn’t exactly fit the ‘historical’ aesthetic, even for a villain.
Why make her so pathetic, and desperate for attention, it makes me feel sorry for her; the lack of attention on this part makes mc and pink hair hard to like, especially when he’s already an annoying obessive brat that doesn’t seem to understand boundaries (yet; it appears that he does have some character development throughout the chapters).
An explanation or a background information would help us readers feel more connected with the story. “One sided affection” isn’t a good enough excuse to strip, and put down another woman villainess. Make her a well written character at least, because the pink hair guy is already hard to bare. Have you not learned from all the thousands other reincarnation historical book?
As a woman, it just itches me the wrong way when a man treats a ‘side character villainess’ with no kindness. I know that it’s a result of the villainess being the detrimental, and stalker-ish person that she is (she deserved that kind of treatment yadayada bs), but think again
Who wrote her that way?
If I was a normal person (normal as in, not overanalysing every single thing, cmon im not trying to call myself different dont hate me for this) reading this book, I would mayBe mind my own business, and not think this twice about hating her, and would probably assume that she deserved those kind of threats since mc and pink guy don’t owe her their time, or any of her rude comments, but it’s frustrating to think about how her character exist to solely be an annoying bit of this story. She’s similar to those faceless side characters in mangas for the sake of making mc look like the best + better girl around.
Lord I can’t, and I don’t know who to talk to about this!!!! Like obviously being able to write, and draw a manhwa is amazing, but this kind of writing is upsetting, you know what I meannn. (if you’re reading this youre clearly interested in what I have to say, so hi :))
A person can’t just be evil out of obessive love There has got to be a better way of approaching this subject. She could still be the shitty unlikable obessive stalker, but with a story that backup the point, because you can’t just make a bad character ‘bad’ by making her overly attractive with an unbearable personality. Those kind of people don’t exist without reason. I need to know what happened, for her to turn out that way.
Mc and pink hair could be more likeable if I know something about the villains that they don’t. It gives me reason to hate. He’s treating her like some sl*t that stained their sight or something, it hurts my feminine side to see a pretty character being torn down, when an explanation could’ve soothen that thought.
If he’s not gonna be the main focus at least try with other playing characters. If he IS the main focus then dAmn, author needs to make a storyboard for each characters because this ain’t it miss gurl.
Anyways I like the concept, but there are a lot of plot holes, and it makes me upset with how some women are being stereotyped, I have enough stereotypes to live around in this reality I don’t really wanna see it being played out in a fictional book like this.
If the genre is to be a cute litte historical school life manwha, then go for it, but the unnecessary dragging down of other characters’ value as human beings, for the sake of main characters, makes me ickkkkk so hard.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk. Any other opinions are accepted, but please be nice :(( This is not to create conflicts between readers, but an attempt to discuss stereotypes being played out in this book that could be damaging, and adding into the patriarchal system; men would hate to see me coming, im a raging feminist; and would defend a woman no matter what until there are enough valid reasons for her to being a horrible person.
I’m not gonna hate a character from being badly written. But I will hate a character if they’re a bad person. There is a difference. ANYWAYS BYEBYE
YIPPIES~~~~ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
Eh, she's not actually the real villain, i believe in their point of view she's the villain because she stalks and do horrible things to get Kion's attention and shit. I hope she gets a character development tho, in the latest chapter they mentioned her, so i believe she's not actually a villain but she could be a friend like that one girl who's useless in the group project
That’s not true, I’m sure that may have been how you’ve understood korean literature trends, but I’ve read thousands of manhwas, and korean novels, and I’ve seen and encountered well written characters and side characters more than my fingers could count so why can’t this story be the same.
That’s why I said “have we not learned from the thousand of villainess books out there.” It is such a waste for an interestingly written concept to be dragged down into a stereotypical, lowkey misogynistic perspective of an annoying character, and how the fl is blatantly ignoring the danger the boy that doesn’t seem to understand boundaries to be holding.
If we’re talking about korean current trend, it’s definitely having a well written plot, and artstyle combined. This doesn’t include k-drama though, but I’ve seen korean dramas + action before and they’re pretty good, so I wouldn’t say they’re any less amazing. Anyways, it’s not just the side characters that are annoying, even the main characters are starting to seem like they were written just for the sake of writing and not for the love of it.
Also I dont know if youre getting this wrong, but I do understand where you’re coming from. Obviously every story has an annoying character, but the way to write them mattersss. This had potential, and would still have it if author cared. (I’m sorry for double replying. I don’t wanna come off as angry or anything like that, I really appreciate you having this conversation with me :)))
dw i just think of this as a debate, i agree with your reply for sure, i also read lots of manhwas and novels so i know there's a well written side characters, but there's actually small portion of a well written side character villains in the story. We can take the girly as an example. We don't talk about good side characters here cause we know they're all are good written. I'm talking about the side character villain and other villain in the manhwa too, cause I've also noticed how bad written they are, like how they would always be "pick me" "stalker" and stuff, this is the trend i meant cause it's annoying when the villain is always like that I'm not disagreeing on you in the previous reply, i just think that the girly might have a development, but yea she is kinda bad written
I see, yeah, honestly, authors should know atp people would stop reading if it keeps happening. Because side characters lowkey creates and adds to the environment. If they’re easily percieved as bad and stupid, I would assume the same with main characters. Of course anyone could deter the bad side characters, they’re easy because of how obviously crazy they are. But author make it seems like its such an awe, mouth dropping, jaw breaking moment like, its an ick for realll.
Im trying to find this isekai where the mc (supposedly a villainess) approached a duke (I'm not sure but he's of high status) but he's a bit on the crazy side and at the start, mc was trying to avoid him but he noticed her before she could flee and held her at his blade point (he was smiling if i'm not wrong), and she was trying to seem nonchalant to avoid being killed (cuz apparently if she shows that she's scared, she could die?? idk I can't rmbr much) pls helpp!! also I think she got sick after that encounter, and was bedridden for a few days?
I swear to god
