Not only did the Characters have a realistic back story...the writer took the time to make it deep (considering its a smut piece).
The story was well written for what it was, and though you could see some things from a mile away- they also had some surprises.
The art was well done.
Overall, much better than I had thought it would be from the title and chosen front photo.
Id rate it (on a scale based smut/josei manga) a 7-8/10.
which for me is very good.
It actually had well written scenes where they make you really feel for a character- which doesn't happen often even in more popular manga.
I Loved how he gave Shin the sword he used to kill the king. I think that was great. Instead of keeping it himself he gave it to the one who deserved it the most and who had a key part in the death of the king.
But WTF was "the new king saying at the end"
The touching on the neck at page 49 an 50 reminded me of a scene I kinda remembered with the previous king.
"Now your body is mine"
Thats completely out of his character. It seems more like the prev king. Why would he talk of 'claiming his body' when he knows what Shin's been through.
"for as long as you live and breath you shall be mine"
that the most messed up thing. It's basically putting shin in the same invisible cage he was in before. Basically saying he can't leave for as long as he lives.
I know it might not be to this extent yet but he just became King 5 minutes ago and already says that...what happens when hes been king for a year.
"I have made this man king"
I can tell if he's happy when he says it...It defiantly doesn't look like he is.
It seems like he can already see some parts of the olf king in him.
Ughhh I can't wait till season two!!!
I think part of it went pretty quick (like once shin got out of the castle it could have gone way slower instead of skipping so much....but at the same time I NEEDED to know what happened.
Maybe the old king was right, maybe he could see something in his son that was like himself. Maybe he really did "curse" him in a way. Maybe theres even like a family curse thats put on anyone who becomes king. Magic has played a little part so far but it is in the story...I hope I get to see more of it.
Lol. Sorry this is so long.
Ok i agree with your first two paragraphs, but I believe him saying that shins body belongs to him is entirely in his character as he from the start shows how his wants to make shin his, I think that his saying your body is mine is to signify that shin no longer belongs to the old king.
On the fourth paragraph you say he is putting shin back into this invisible cage but I think he is expressing that nothing will keep them apart no more which is more liberating for the two of them.
Now for shin saying I have made this man king I believe he is saying this in disbelief as in a brief moment he sees him in kinda robes with gallant smile reminding me of the good king he talked about before. I just Believe shin is shocked at how far they have both
come and how he played a big
Sorry if that sounded snarky but I just was intrigued by your thoughts on this and am also excited to see further developments in season 2 especially of the old kings curse (plleaase don't come truue)
I Think what you said is definitely a possibility and a high one, it wasn't snarky, I'm fine with constructive criticism and hearing others people's thoughts...I actually welcome it.
That's one reason why I love this site. You can share your opinions on different stories and it's not like youtube...you get meaningful answers back
I Also first interpreted it like that. But then I sort of changed my mind after reading it a couple times, just something seemed off about the characters and the faces.
I think the writer and artist are pretty good and add a fair amount of detail so I thought their wording might be an important hint. At this point in time, I think his " I have made this man...The king" was probably more positive than negative...especially since it just happened and there were only a couple odd out of place words exchanged, so it should definitely be a happy moment.
This was just one of the many options I thought that could happen for season two (lol it was already so long I couldn't write anymore)
I do hope it won't come true...but It might be nice for the story
When I started reading the first book, I fell in love with the art and story...But now! I have absolutely no idea what's going on. The arts still great but now it's no annoying to read. Especially Marie's parts. At first, she was a good character but now all her sentences start with "Marie" in the third person. Seriously, I now can't stand reading or listening to that name anymore. Im ok with out there stuff and i can see why people might like it but to me every part is just getting annoying...except Henri's parts.
Like what the fuck is with the huge ass dildo?
And the kissing and thorn scene.
I feel the same but opposite, I'm finding all of Charles (is that Henri?) quite annoying now and I still like Marie a lot but maybe a bit more in earlier parts. I particularly like that guy with the fake leg though.
Hmm if you asked why I couldn't really give you a straight answer but I think it's because I don't really understand/know his motives for doing anything if that makes sense? And I don't think I like his personality now too much either..
Me too. I still enjoy it, but Marie's character is getting annoying. She annoyed me more in Innocent, because the spotlight gradually changed from Charles to her and a good portion of the manga is dedicated to it. And she's kind of a crazed mary sue in my opinion, most of the real Charles Sanson most interesting traits (i.e. his exceptional medical knowledge, which played an important part in Damien's execution) went to her character...
That being said, the story is still interesting and I'm curious to where the author will drive the plot.
I saw the anime first and than read the manga
The manga is better.
ps. it gets waayyyyy better half way through
Heres why the manga is great.
1. The characters are not the same at the end. There is character development, yes Yuki may be semi-annoying but if you stick with it it's worth it. Even the small characters have major character development
2. The ending isn't the happy one you want but it's the sad one you need.
I don't want to spoil much but here it goes.
I like Kaname NOT Zero luckily my favorite doesn't die but his ending isn't the best...Well in the end, it kind of is.
3. Art is great...especially in the later chapters when the artists gets better and creates her own style for the characters.
4. The story may seem cliche in the beginning--- and it is, i mean vampires, love triangles, etc. But it does get better especially when Yuki realizes her past (sorry, all i can give u).
5. It comes with a create after story "Vampire Knight Memories" And you have to read it after this. And it's beautiful.. not what you think would happen but its still great. And sad... but realistic-ish.
It shows what happens after Kaname wakes up after a "long sleep" and he is basically born anew.
I watched the anime first then read the manga. When I was watching watching the anime, I really, really want that Yuki end up with Zero. After reading a third of the manga, I really, really, want Yuki to end up with Kaname. I guess, I paid the price of my changed affection. She ended up with both AND with a bitter note. LOL

This is a link to a pretty long and extensive double ciel theory
I think the anime version of the party scene decsribes it best what the author is doing.
I noticed alot of this things mentioned on here like
sebatian laughing the witch arc and circus arc but though nothing of it.

Also this page clearly defined that there was another ciel....because the people who had showed in this are the ones for who the ciel regretted their death and also maybe he holds them very dear(although cant say anything for joker and doll)
Look at ciel's blood lineage, the bark under vincent's name is branched and Yana Toboso is a very detailed artist so you can't say that this theory is baseless. http://68.media.tumblr.com/1530ad68b3deb2e01b2c2e484a7b90ae/tumblr_inline_o6tq052NHR1sm83b7_500.jpg
Not my founding. just sharing what some anonymous reply to me once ^^
^ I've post this comment before and imma gonna post it again for everyone out there who dissed this theory (=・ω・=)
Oh my fucking god, I'm feeling like the most stupid fuck ever. HOW DID I NEVER NOTICED THAT SCENE IN THE GREEN WITCH'S ARC. WFT? Holly christ, I'm blown away, how could I-? THAT WAS CLEARLY CIEL TALKING TO SOMEONE IN THE CAGE! NO Wait...WHO THE FUCK SCREAMED "CIEL"??? BUT- BUT IT SEEMED LIKE UNDERTAKER PUT ONE OF THEM IN A COMA???
Σ(  ̄□ ̄||)
Aaaaagh, shit, thanks for the mind fuck
Same. The cage part was always weird to me since I saw ciel both killed and in the cage at the same time. But I never thought "Hey he might have a twin" I ignored all the weired parts that never made sense and I always thought anything said that didn't make sense was a translation mistake. I feel stupid too
That's what I thought too. But.... ow is his brother still alive after being stabbed??? (well its a manga so anything can happen...Also, I would think Ciel would throw all the family photos away immediately (if the fire didn't destroy them all in the first place). so why did they still exist. Neither Sebastian or ciel are stupid enough to not finish the job...unless its on purpose.
This is by far the most amazing manga I have ever read. The story is not only realistic but moving as well. I was brought to tears in the second half. The romance, the passion, the sad but meaningful end. This is bound to win awards and will definitely get a anime spinoff, tho I fear that no tv-show can do it justice!
I can not express to you enough how wonderful this piece is. Just when I thought all was going well with the characters...we reach the climax with a unpredictable plot twist.
The story is definitely one that every person could relate to, the characters have their highs and lows like any normal person...and in the end they were faced with a harsh reality.
Of course it’s not only the story that mesmerized me, but the art as well. Beautiful...I could only dream of creating such beautiful work.
Overall 10/10. You will not regret reading this. And in the end I’m sure your will be pulled into writing a review for this masterpiece
