This manhwa has everything but a good chemistry b/w the mc and female lead. I love yeowoo so much and other characters are so good. But the female lead is like those insufferable male leads in some shoujo/josei who have no personality but one day, their backstory will be shown to tell why they’re so inexpressive and cold and blah blah. The romance element shouldn’t even exist in this manhwa because seeing yeonwoo’s story and his growth, and how he’ll be getting stronger and as a survivor of bullying, SA is better. I know that female lead’s sad traumatic backstory gonna come to explain her dry, cold, insufferable and inexpressive behaviour which is again, very similar to male leads in other manhwas. It’s like role reversed.

Well, yeah there is a reason for it but people are starting not to care. It's not because of the character themselves it's because of the writing. It is so tedious. It just makes me wish that some Supernatural phenomenal like a zombie attack what happened to the school. It's just so draining for the audience

That isn’t true at all, reread it, she’s always been soft on Yeonwoo and she’s never lead him on, what are you guys talking about??? She’s never been cold to him, she isn’t hurtful to him or passive aggressive, they don’t play push pull games likes regular shoujo, did you guys just forget the rest of the chapters???? She isn’t even cold to anyone, she always helpful and doesn’t ignore people, she just has a stoic face that’s all

Dear, you can think like you want. But it’s the most basic old shoujo/josei inexpressive male lead behaviour in a role reversal. And there’s no push and pull, because nothing is happening. She’s cold bc there’s nothing from her side, her personality, her character, no development. It’s frozen. Frozen Elsa. That’s what it is. But think what you want, you like it, good for you but the chemistry is six feet under.

Their chemistry is dogshit, I agree, but she isn’t some tsundere, passive aggressive dumbass who can’t say what she feels, she isn’t cold or even cold to him, she just has a stoic face, and once again yeah the have the chemistry of a wet piece of lettuce but she isn’t typical shoujo ml, she is sweet and doesn’t play games

It's going to the point where I'm not caring about any of the characters. I keep thinking please let there be a zombie attack. Maybe an apocalyptic event? Something? This story is so twisted. It's like they make up drama because they know that they characters themselves are not interesting so they try to twist every little thing into a dramatic event. I got to the point where I was thinking, I wish all these kids were homeschooled

... Honestly, y'all got a point because I find ml and FL like that very frustrating; cold, stoic and unfazed by everything because "oh no!" they got a traumatic backstory and are softening up to the other main character because they're treating them with importance.
But, I just can't help but enjoy this manhwa so much. I can't help love Yeonwoo and Haesol, but why? From Chapter 1, it was refreshing to see roles being reversed with the FL being the cold, rational and charming character and the ML the cute, timid and pretty one. There were a lot of scenes that left me feeling unsatisfied with the romantic progress with these two, especially when there was literally nothing going on. The shock-factor to me was that Haesol had asked Yeonwoo to date her after him having confessed unintentionally.
Putting these points together, I have concluded that it isn't that the story or the author can't created enjoyable cold characters or create progress between the two main leads. There isn't an issue, but I do feel like reading a lot of romance manhwa has caused us to forget that no matter how stoic and unfazed a character is, does not mean that that overused concept isn't still valid. In the case of Haesol, because of many hints in the manhwa, we've witnessed glimpses of her parents' neglect and abuse which might be the cause of her unusual behavior. But, has Haesol never felt weirdly strange since Chapter 1? I remember reading Chapter 1, and always felt something was just out of the ordinary with the girl. She would suddenly just stare out in space for no reason or just make these expressions that worries me a lot. Going back to the tragic backstory, we can not deny something must have happened to her that has caused her to be like the way she is, but I can assure you that this isn't all she is as a character. You can see that no matter how cold or stock she is, she feels the need to always be there helping people. Everytime something bad happens to a character, she's always usually the one to straight up give her help in whatever way. Just why? Why is she so kind to people? Why is she always seen as such a perfect character to other people? Why is she always top at her class? Is she like that naturally? Was she just naturally gifted and beautiful like everyone, us readers and the supporting characters claim?
Reminder, for the entire series, we've only seen things at the POV of Yeonwoo. No matter how much we try to understand Haesol, it's not possible because the narrator himself, Yeonwoo, does not know her well enough. In Yeonwoo's eyes, her every action and behavior is perfect. It was just until recently that we got to see Junghyuk's POV of what happened in their past (I know we have had other POVs too but that's beside the point). It is only a matter of time the story unravels the things we don't know about the other characters. We still don't know the real confirmed reason why Haesol is so perfect nor why she actually decided to date Yeonwoo. Her demeanour isn't one of someone that feels attraction to another nor someone that has "feelings" for the other. She's been the same. Sure, she's warmed up to our babyboy and finds his presence to be quite comforting, but in no scene has it been confirmed that she has had any romantic attraction to anyone as if she isn't capable of actually loving. She understands the concept of caring for other people and doing "kind" deeds, but most of the "kind" deeds are from a just/fair spectrum like she's following certains rules to seem like a lawfully good person. She feels attachment but doesn't fully comprehend how strange her behavior is...just like how no one point it out because they are too busy with the idea she's this perfect person.
In a personal theory of mine, Haesol might be dating Yeonwoo due to 1) her wanting to comprehend on why people like her so much and might have chosen Yeonwoo because she had any attachment to him like any other character (her friends except like people she knows but started treating her badly after rejecting them once), 2) her advantage of being able to reject people fully because she is in a matter of fact dating him (she has reject countless by saying she had no romantic interest for them but some are still persistent), and 3) her not wanting to make the situation more awkward because Nari does seem to like Yeonwoo and Junghyuk a lot. Maybe that's why at the chapter where they shared a bed together, she had asked Yeonwoo to not hate her because she indeed has grown attachment to him as the story progressed.
In conclusion, I just like to think her perfectness is just a mask she has put on because underneath all the beauty, lawful personality or the person she has acted out to be (maybe unconsciously due to her trauma. Maybe she doesn't even know. Maybe that's just her way of proving that she is absolutely normal and skilled that she's not as useless or burdensome her parents make her up to be. Maybe that's her coping mechanism), she's just a person trying her best to just live. We can't deny it's fucked up how stories uses trauma as a tool to create character development, but Yeonwoo's Innocence has always just been people, no matter their backstory or what has happened to them in the past, thriving to just pass school exams and move on from past mistakes/regret. Most of them time, they are just high schoolers who just got too much things to do, but they're maturing and growing up. Although deep shit going on, they still are.
Sorry, I just love this manhwa too much.
I can’t find the novel anywhere. I can’t even find the raws. If someone knows then tell plsss
I found it.
https://booktoki342.com/novel/8187110?stx=%EC%9B%94%EA%B4%91
Seems like it doesn't have the novel. Do you know anywhere i can find the novel?
The cover page is different so I misunderstood it too but it’s the right novel, with 11 chapters(basically this novel is in volumes that’s why it’s 11). I’ve finished reading volume 2. Just google translate. It’s readable.
Oh! I thought it's only 11 chapters. Thank you so much.
So what chapter should we start reading now???
The first chapter. From the starting because it's in volumes. When you will translate it and scroll down while skimming then you will find to where to continue. Its in the first half of the chapter
I was wondering if anyone knew if the story/chapters posted on booktoki are complete or if there was more, like maybe side stories? I read the chapters on here, but I feel like there were still some unresolved parts to the story.
