It's paced like a One-Shot. And they're been no other volumes since 2019. Also the manga doesn't have "Volume 1" anywhere on the cover. Seems like the last chapter was the end

Everytime this gets updated I feel like I have to make time to read the entire thing from scratch

Nope, not at all lol I purchased all the chapters on Tappy, went back and reread the entire series from the beginning and it became even clearer just how much the quality drops off was once S3 starts. It felt like watching a great anime only to then watch low budget OVAs. So if you feel this way, it's not in your head and you're not being nostalgic. It's just not that great compared to the other two. But it's still worth some entertainment. As long as you go in with low expectations you'll be fine.

But the reveal of the ring, and everything else that followed, could have been done SO much better. It all felt very lackluster. This is definitely a case of an author that has a great art style, wonderful concept, but needed help with the actual story writing.

So instead of giving us extras with the two adult characters who CLEARLY have chemistry, we instead have to suffer through groomer-bait fantasies. Not every story needs a weird kink added in. Geeeezzzzus

Or just Bi maybe. Feels like they're going in that direction with the introduction of the doctor who's more than likely the person she's been texting and stressing over. Because why else would we need to know that the doctor has an arranged marriage??

If that's the case they could have just introduced the neighbor as a completely new female character who happens to get close to Motochika instead of her being the tutor

But I liked it better when we just had the images of the 10-yr skip and we could imagine how they were doing. Learning that Ue has been Hiiragi and Shizu as band support all this time is...disappointing? I had the fairytale that given had risen to fame, and they were touring. Now that bubble is burst lol Sometimes the less you know the better

This is one of the manga series that is so artistically captivating and has a great plotline, but falls short of its potential. Honestly didn't care for the way Shizu and Hiraa's relationship was quickly railroaded together. No real development for two characters that have been friends their entire lives. She could have done a lot more with their storyline and expanded on their transition from friends to lovers (or even just created a spin off for them). But it just seems like she wanted to get their story quickly out of the way.

Since this comes right after the dramatic turnaround of Haru's and Akihiko's storyline, which came across as more developed but still very cliche (bc of course we can't have a BL without some form of sexual assault/ dubious consent scene crammed in), and is only compounded by Ue's and Mafuyu's extremely slow moving and exhaustingly dramatic romantic development, the story flickers out towards the end. This series would have honestly benefited from having a separate writer as many mangas are starting to do, and giving more time to flesh out the characters through more real world events, not just through their interactions and ongoing internal struggles. Either way, this story is an ok read, but doesn't match the hype that the anime has given it.
